I haven't as yet had a good look at all the chain but I will do that one evening this week.
The sound is getting more frequent and I now hear it all the time in 1st and 2nd gear and sometimes in 3rd. The one thing I have noticed, if I roll off the throttle or dip the clutch the noise stops. Is this consistent with a stiff link or dodgy chain and sprockets? I know the chain is turning all the time the wheels are but I'm guessing the extra load when the power is on is what causes the knocking?
I was hoping the noise would just dissappear (no such luck) because I can't really afford a chain and sprocket change at the mo, but the bike gets me to work, so if it needs doing it needs doing.
I see Griff86 says to go genuine Yamaha parts but does anyone have any other feelings on this issue? Are there any chains/sprockets that I should definitely avoid? What is a good price for a genuine sprocket and chain set? the local stealer has said £170 for parts plus an hour's labour.

A disgrace of a man ( I use the word man loosly) for his actions last night, hopefully they will let him rot on the sidelines, or with the reserves for the rest of his contract.

Seeing as how the FZS 400 is the Daddy of all Fazers and the rest of the Fazer family are off springs of it. I was wondering we could give it the repect it deserves and have a FZS400 section? All of the other model Fazers have their own section and there is no real gathering of information anywhere on the web for 400 so if there was a section here with information in it, it could be a good way to get new members in. What do you guys think?

Well it looks like the rust is going to win this battle...
Has anyone replaced their feed pipe and if so recommend a supplier? One option is to have HEL make one up (kaching ££££ :eek ).
I've googled the backside off 'FZS 600 oil pipe' with no success...I can find one for the Thunderpussy but only one outfit sell them.
Thanks.

Hi y'all
Home made cider was a little stronger than planned; woke up next day to an email congratulating me on my eBay purchase :\
Went and collected a bike I didn't remember buying but I'm made-up. Guy selling had owned it for 12 years. Not faultless but not too shabby either.
All I can say is "why didn't I buy a Fazer earlier?".
