The pair of legs to the left, usually dances around in a rather fetching manner - doesn't seem to be working on the new site though  :'(

Does anybody else have an animiated gif that IS working on here? Any ideas how I can fix her (I know Bracechenko will appreciate her being fixed as well  :evil )

  Hi People, newbie here!
Posted by: blue_faz600 - 03-10-11, 08:13 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

A big hello as i'm new to the site and new to Fazers! Big Grin

First of all I'm loving the little Fazer, but need some advice on model niggles and traits.

The drive seems very snatchy at small throttle openings, so much so that i find myself slipping the clutch upto 20mph to get a smooth take off. Is this normal for the 2001 FZS 600? I have checked the chain slack, which currently is at 35mm however i am reluctant to adjust this back to 30mm as i regularly carry a pillion. Could the chain slack be contributing to the snatchyness?

Secondly i seem to hear what sounds like to me the cam chain rattling when the engine is cold, once the engine warms up this sounds seems to go away. My engine has done approx 24k miles in 10 years. Not excessive, but could the cam chain need replacing? or could it be the spring in the cam chain tensioner that has gone?

I think thats it for now folks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys and girls.

  Never trust reserve again
Posted by: peterjca - 03-10-11, 07:45 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

For years I've been in the habit of filling up when I've done around 30 miles on reserve. Last year I wondered how much it would take on my FZ1 to run out, and managed 35 miles before I spluttered to a halt.

Now with my commute reduced to a mere 6 miles a day instead of the usual 35 to 40, I'm going for nearly 5 weeks before I fill up. My first fill up since starting the new job with a full tank should have taken place this morning. Instead I got a good dose of exercise after the bike spluttered to a halt half a mile from home, showing just 26 miles on reserve when I had to wheel her home (not nice in this unexpected heat).

So is the current lack of daily mileage and speed mean that the bike's using more petrol per mile?

F/S FZS 1000 Gen 1 BIKE FULL AKRAPOVIC System, DYNOJET + more
Posted by: chitsu - 03-10-11, 07:14 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Late 2002 '52' plate U.K bike, few extra's fitted, FULL AKRAPOVIC exhaust system, DYNOJET kit in carbs, K&N airfilter, RENTHAL bars, GYTR lowering bridge (Lowers handlebars) & braided brake hoses.
It's M.O.T'd till May 12th 2012, road tax expires December 31st 2011. Theres some service history with the bike, a spare key & the owners book pack & books too.
It starts, stops & runs fine. Recently serviced (oil & filter change) plus fork oil & seals and chain & sprockets replaced too, there is the usual wear & tear marks here & there, the worst being in the last picture below on the R/H side of the tank.
Im looking for £2,300 for it CASH, I dont really want any P/X's but I MAY consider it ?
I live in Glossop, High Peak Derbyshire this is about 13 miles east of Manchester city centre & about 80-90 miles North of DERBY!
P.M me or post here if you require any further info, no test rides without the FULL amount in CASH, proof of insurance & a VALID U.K licence in my hand!
