Against EU Member States Introducing Mandatory High Visibility Clothing For Motorcyclists

Responsible department: Department for Transport

We the undersigned urge the British Government to put pressure on the European Commission to discipline any member state that imposes clothing standards on motorcycle riders. We view any such requirement as an expression of prejudice against motorcyclists and a barrier to the free movement of people within the EU. With regard to the current proposals on mandatory high visibility clothing being considered by some member states, we consider this to be ill advised and naïve. We challenge the speculation that high visibility clothing will reduce accidents involving motorcyclists. We question the right of motorists to hold driving licenses if they are incapable of seeing a rider and motorcycle unless clad in high visibility clothing. We challenge the logic that imposes unreasonable requirements on the victims of accidents in order to accommodate the failings of those who cause them

The ones in my bike have a lot more of turns than this from the picture, both at the hard and the soft zones. Sorry I haven't got pictures of them. My bike is from 1999. Did Yamaha change springs in 2002? Or are my springs from another brand? The total length is the same as manual says.

At least the long spacer in my bike was changed by the previous owner to increase preload (too much, and poorly made). I put a shorter spacer and a 2002 preload adjuster.

Could anybody who has the OEM springs laying around compare them?

Thanks a lot

Rev counter needle in wrong place!
Posted by: Ghoti - 09-01-12, 10:00 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

I changed the undertray on my Gen1 Fazer 1000 at the weekend all by myself and some idiot  :o replaced the tip over sensor upside down  :'( .  Anyway, easily fixed that once I worked out the 9,000 rev display warning and found said tip over switch, BUT...

As I switched off the ignition with the rev needle showing 9k revs, the needle fell the wrong way and is now point down at the 6 o'clock position when the ignition is off.  When the ignition is turned on, the needle moves clockwise and stops underneath the normal stop and cannot move any further.

A quick net search suggested using a magnet to drag the needle back around but this makes no movement at all with ignition off and a little flicker when ignition is on (perhaps I need a stronger magnet).  Same post also says that it is easy to get to the needle and move it by hand if you take the instrument panel off.

Before I take everything to bits for no reason...
a) can the needle be moved by a stronger magnet?
b) can the needle be easily got at
c) would just rotating the instrument panel around to get the needle back in the right place work
d) any other easy way to fix this.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I am trying to take my headlamp appart on my Fazer 600 2000 model. I am doing this because it is filthy and needs a good clean. I have managed to take it all appart and am now left with the reflector unit.

My problem is this. I can not seem to seperate the 2 parts to get in there to clean. There and 6 clips, which I have undone. There also seems to be some glue which I have managet do get through, but still it is on there as tight as ever.

Has anyone done this before? And if so, HOW......

Any help appreciated.

Ive just fitted some heated grips to my bike,(1999 FZS600) gone up the road everything fine, then all of a sudden ive got a missfire on cyl no4. I switched it off, then disconnected the TPS and put the ignition on, and I get a reading of 3000rpm every couple of seconds, then back to zero then 3000 again. Any ideas what that code means?  :'(

  FZS1 Rear Brake Torque Arm.
Posted by: davec - 08-01-12, 05:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Can anyone tell me does the FZS1000 (2001-2005) rear brake torque arm fit directly onto the FZS600 or does it need modifying? Thanks.
