One of the best bikes I think Ive owned!
Posted by: Fazerjon - 10-01-12, 08:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

I've got to say that out of nearly all the bikes I've owned over the last 20 odd years (and I've had a few as I'm always chopping and changing!) my fazer 600 is one of the best all round bikes I think I've ever had.
I bought in November it as a non runner for £1350 with 9,000 miles on, its a T reg 1999. A quick strip and clean out of the carbs, new battery, tyres and a service and what a bike! I do all the work myself so have saved a fortune and I believe I got a good deal after looking on ebay and bike trader I cant find a fazer that cheap with that mileage in such good condition!
I use the bike every day as a commuter into London around 80 miles a day and its so comfortable, I'm 5'11 and get no aches or pains. It goes like a rocket for a 600 and handles really well, and the brakes are superb (well the front one is) the back could do with an overhaul but is ok for now.
The only mods I've done is fit heated grips, the headlight mod, a delkevic Stainless can and a rear hugger.
Absolutely love it!
Sorry for going on about it for so long, I just had to say what a F**king marvellous bike for the money. :rollin

when my new PC arrives it will have no OS installed. So as long as in the BIOS the primary boot drive is set as a CD drive will it just read the windows 7 disk? (thus creating a partition and installing windows?)

been such a long time since Ive done this i cant remember  :o

Stupid question but is the paint code for the bike written on it anywhere?  Or does anyone know the code for a 2002 FZS600 in blue??

Idea's on what engines will fit in the fzs600 (2001)
Posted by: Kinggy - 10-01-12, 12:49 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

Hi there,

This is my first post here and I'm after some help.
My Fazer is getting a bit worse for ware now with 57,000 miles on the clock and also not being able to stay in 2nd gear ( bent dogbones or something ) and I'm after a second hand engine but I am unsure weather to stay with the original 600 lump or try and see if any others fit.

I would like to try and get a larger engine in there I.E 1000 FZS lump would this be possible?

I have heard that the YZF 600 Thundercat engine fits but that to me is just a rumour.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of what I can do in this situation ?

The bike still runs fine but just can't get on with having no 2nd gear. Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers guys

Bought a house in Grantham today, I'm having to relocate because of work. I'm absolutely terrified, being out of my comfort zone, can anyone calm me down? Have I done the right thing?

Hi all
I've had an Ivans carb kit rattling around in my workshop cupboard for the lasr 3 years or so waiting for me to get the time/courage to fit myself. Can anyone put me in touch with the Ivans guru who used to fit the kits at peoples houses as I would rather he did the job properly if he is still doing so. Cheers :lol

Hi to all fellow Fazer lovers.
I've got a grey 53 plate gen1 1000 just coming up to 28000. I've had it from new Well ex demo 600m. Mods are pyramid rear hugger, R&G crash bungs jack up dog bones corbin seat with yamaha tuning fork seat cover bought from Devilsyam in Fowlers car park (remember me ?). Droppedforks 10mm, renntec rack. Rest standard. Its used for year round commuting except for salted roads fundays the odd rally (incl.2 dragon rallies) Watching Irish road racing and general hooning around.
I also have a ktm950 supermoto which is probably the most fun bike I've ever owned :evil :evil but two break downs in the space of 3 months mean our love affair maybe coming to a close :'( . Its a known fault with these bikes' fuel pump failure, fixed with an aftermarket facet fuel pump which should be a fit and forget fix  and a reg rec failure which apparently is a recurring problem every 15-20000 miles. I've done the reg rec and have yet to fit the pump so she may get a reprieve when the spring comes but I think she will have to go.

The money will go on giving the Fazer a makeover. Braded hoses new rear shock bearings etc. I've got an Ivans carb kit does anyone know if the guy who fits them at peoples houses still operates I can't remember his name but am sure someones out there knows his name. Anyway look forward to plenty of banter with you all TTFN Smile
