A mate of mine had an accident in Kashmir a couple of years back, knocked off his Enfield Bullet and broke his leg.
Last night I found out a) that he's going back later this year to complete the trip (Manali, Leh, Lohtang Pass, all that good stuff) and b) that he had a helmet cam running at the time of the accident. I'm not normally an accident video "poster", but given he posted it himself on youtube, and he got away with bust lower leg and some bruises, and its such a "How the foc did you get away with that?", I'll make an exception...
How the foc did Ozzy get away with this? :eek :eek

Battery problem or Optimate problem...? |

Going out for a ride yesterday on my FZ6 '04, it tried to crank the engine once, sluggishly, then I got the dreaded "buzz" of the solenoid indicating a flat battery
(Probably I should have put it on charge when I got back from my mother's after Xmas, but anyway...)
I managed to bump start it, rode fine and when I got back, got the Optimate III out to charge the battery up.
The problem is that, after plugging it in, I got the Green "power" light, but none of the others until after a few minutes the "desulphate" light came on which I thought only comes on if the battery is near dead.
As it was dark I couldn't do anything about it then (no light in the shed) and today I was out for another Observed ride, so I just hoped it would start today, which it did.
It was ok until we did some slow riding practice and at one point I thoughtlessly sat on it with the engine off, but the headlight still on, meaning that when I tried to start it... buzz....
So I bump start it again, ride ok, and at the next two stops, switch off promptly, restart, no problem.
I get home and again try to plug in the Optimate, but still get only the Power light.
I have the Optimate adapter (bolts to the battery and has a covered connector to go to the charger) and the contacts appear to be clean and seem to fit together ok, so I'm not sure what's going on. Is the Optimate buggered? Is the battery shot (but if it was, surely it wouldn't start at all)?
Anyone got any ideas?

3.5" rim and 120/70 fitted! |

It feels as good as every new tyre, but I have not ride it hard yet. It looks great and I also fitted badass rubber fork gaiters instead those ugly plastic things. The mudguard does not look ugly now, but minimalistic. The speedo is sincere due the larger diameter.
The rim is the model F-52, it came from a TRX850, (also came with the FZR400R -thanks to our mate hybridYZF for helping-, and problably with the latest FZR600R) You just have to remove a couple pieces at the speedo area, put your brake discs and thats all. The colour is glossy very dark grey, it seems stock in my bike because the rear rim is covered with filth.
Next the 170/60 rear, the tyre that is actually designed for 5" rims.

hi i am thinking about clearing out a few spares,
all parts are used and are going cheap i will put up photos if there is any interest
rear light with bulbs
bottom yolk with bearings lock nuts and top nut - chrome on top nut is good
side stand
side covers - both sides the ones near the carbs one has scrathes that are noticable
ecu
fan
front brake hoses -original including manifold block (it you know what i mean)
coolant header tank
throttle cables
footrest bracket - right hand side front
throttle twist grip
front master cylinder
fairing infill panel - left hand side - none on ebay at moment
collection from chelmsford essex or i will post as cheaply as possible
i also have a centre stand that needs welding and a side stand that need straightening - these are both available free + postage or i will get them straightened/welded by a mate at mates rates if reqd.
i am aware that none of this worth a lot of money but i am more interested in helping someone keep a bike on the road cheaply
