LED Tail light ??!! Who's got one ??
Posted by: Kinggy - 26-02-12, 01:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Hi again peeps,

What it is I've spotted a smoked LED tail light for the fazer 98-03 And I'm just wondering if anyone has bought one and fitted and weather they could give me their opinion as to what it looks like and possible upload a picture so I can see for myself. I'm considering getting it bust as it costs £50 I want to try and see what it looks like first but surely it's got to look better than the standard tail light..

Also just one more thing, I'm currently and the beginning of the revamp of my Fazer for the summer. Managed to get me a 2002 engine with only 9,000 miles on for a great price as my engine suffered from the what looks progressively famous the more I read about it slipping second gear!! But I'm in need of a chain and sprocket set and don't really know where to start... What's the best you would all recommend??

Cheers guyss Smile Will look forward to hearing from you  :b

  Tyres??? (sorry)
Posted by: GrahamB - 26-02-12, 12:46 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I'm sure this has been asked many many times before but I thought I would ask again in an attempt to gain some recent feedback.
I have used the search feature on this forum & the general opinion seems to be the Bridgestone BT023 is favourite. Not bothered about wet grip as I tend to stay home when it rains but decent mileage would be nice. My Continental road attack has squared off after only 2K miles but I will admit to being very heavy handed with the throttle so can't blame the tyre entirely. I have a Sport attack on the front & never had an issue with grip from either. My wheels are due back from powder coating on Wednesday so could do with ordering some sharpish as the chap who is coating them has offered to fit my new tyres if I take them when I collect the wheels.
Can anyone recommend a good on line supplier of the Bridgestones please?

  Starting issue
Posted by: ghostbiker - 25-02-12, 07:23 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (36)

Well was out on the bike today doing a spot of Geocaching. This ment there was about 8 stop/starts in 10 or so miles. for between 5 and 45 mins long each time.
As i left home the bike started as normal on the touch of the button.
1st stop it seemed fine also. but the 2nd stop it took maybe 5 seconds of turning over to start. (fast turn over)
3-4th stops same thing but sometimes took up to 10 seconds to start.
then on the next couple of tries it just wouldnt start at all, turned over for 5-10 seconds at a time and tried 4-5 times then finaly it caught.
by the time it got to the last 8th stop (was gunna be 12 stops but thought i wouldnt be able to so went home) again still wouldnt start. this time affter multi tries the battery finaly started to labour a bit so as i was on a hill at the time i decided to bump it. took a bit but it finaly caught on about the 3rd run.

when its running its running as allways, sweet and smooth. its just strugling to start.
once home i turned it off and back on stright away and it started. but i then waited 2 mins and it wouldnt untill the battery was allmost flat. so thats now on charge. but it was fine and is fairly new at about a month old and fully charged. bike was running and starting fine the last 2 days that i have been useing it. although last night i did slip on some fuel at the petrol station and droped the bike while getting off it. it went down slowly and controled with me pulling to try to stop it. it didnt "hit" the ground as such.

Now i am thinking along the lines of a stuck float maybe flooding the engine, might have got stuck when the bike was droped last night?
what else might it be.... over to the knowlage base of foc-u Tongue

  rear caliper seals
Posted by: born to be mild - 25-02-12, 06:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (25)

Hi All,
Im replacing the seals on my rear brake caliper, the main seal went in with a bit of a struggle but not too bad, the dust seal is a total pig to get in as it seems to be too big on its O.D. , being a tightfisted old bugger I bought what looked like reasonable aftermarket seals -Nikone 293800, certainly they seam to be the same as the old seals although its had to tell exactly. Does anyone have any tips on doing this job? Ive just spent an hour struggling with the dust seals and its still not in, Im tempted to put the old one back in at this rate.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?
Posted by: bigfootpete - 25-02-12, 01:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

My mate has had his bike in the shop for two months and they couldn't sort out the problem - so hoping that someone has suggestions as to what the issue might be
from the experts here (Mike!  Big Grin )

The HT coil no 1 burns out -  he has blown 2 of them, same one each time.
The bike is a z750 2007/8  model, spark plugs have been replaced bike has done 31,000miles.

Anyone got an idea? or are more details needed?
