gearbox
Posted by: Fazer Jake - 28-02-12, 08:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

my bikes suffered a clunky gearbox since i bought it 6000 miles ago with 13k on the clock. It glunked in first to second and strangely second to third  :'(

The gear rearset was setup correctly with the dot inline with the gap, since then ive moved it further down so the dots not inline strangely the gearbox seems to clunk less? :rolleyes

When i bought it to me it looked slightly bent (could this cause it?)

thankfully it doesnt suffer with the dreaded jumping out of second

Should i be concerned? i dont have much confidence with it atm and its even causing me to think about selling it incase it does go majorly wrong

2 Quick questions regarding chain adjustment
Posted by: Wade90 - 28-02-12, 07:55 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

What size socket/spanner fits the rear axle nut?

Check slack on side stand as in Haynes and service guide, normal method!
OR - below taken from Owners manual:

To check the drive chain slack

1. Place the motorcycle on the centerstand.

2. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.

3. Spin the rear wheel several times to locate the tightest portion of the drive chain.

4. Measure the drive chain slack as shown

  What Threadlock?
Posted by: davec - 28-02-12, 07:53 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

What threadlock would you recommend or have you used when replacing the front sprocket nut?I don't want to use the ultimate strenght stuff that has to be heated to 300 degrees before you can remove the nut but I want something that will hold the nut tight until I need to replace the front sprocket. Thanks in advance for any replies.

  Sprockets and chain advice needed
Posted by: DryRob - 28-02-12, 05:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

I'm replacing my chain and both sprockets and I've got three options:

Busters generic kit (DID chain) £80-90
Renthal sprockets, Tsubaki chain £135
Yamaha set £150

Any experience with these or advice? I like to think I look after my chain but probably do neglect it a bit.

  023's time to replace/review
Posted by: ghostbiker - 28-02-12, 04:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Well its time to replace the rear 023.
i had a new set put on 4350 ago and realy realy liked them.
Grip wet and dry was very good, feel was good to. up till this point PR2's were by far my best choice for the fazer and to be honest i dont think there is much diff between the 023's and the PR2's in performance or feel.
the PR2's did start to white line a little towards the end of thier life.
but the 023 rear as it hit the wear marker just lost all grip. its like riding on wood lol slides with out warning and has now started to lose chunks or rubber.
Now dont take this as a realy BAD thing. up untill the wear markers it was faultless. its only now that i have hit and am going past them that any issue has happened.

i normaly get 4k from a rear tyre so 4350 is about the best i have ever got on the fazer. i had hopped to get 4500 as i normaly use them for a few 100 affter the wear markers but this wont be possable (see pic Tongue )

I have another 023 rear going on this friday as there is still plenty of life left in the front (which has been faultless so far) and i dont like to mix and match if i can help it. but once this set have been used up i will either go back to PR2's or try the PR3's most likely the latter

  600 Wanted in/near Derbyshire
Posted by: Andy Clap - 28-02-12, 12:09 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi Folks

Returning Foccer seeks another Fazer!!

I'm in the market for either a mk2 (Foxeye) 600, or an FZ6.

I'm in Matlock, Derbyshire, will travel about 1.5 hours to view.

Sold my CBR, so cash waiting for the right bike.  Intend to have the bike for a loooong time, so lower the miles and better the condition the better.

Cheers,
Andy  (prentis at gmail dot com)

Doubt anybody remembers me, I was the quiet one in the corner when I had my Mk2 600 between 02 and 08.  Only posted about 140 times in all that time.

Then had a CBR600RR between 08 and now, and lost touch with FOC-U.

Now looking for something less mental, and a nice FZ6 is on the list.

Looking forward to once again wasting countless hours reading bollox in the General forum!!  Wink

Cheers,
Andy
