Check yer bikes folks, especially those of us in the 'Weeg
Posted by: Aegis Bearing Mel - 13-03-12, 06:30 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Having passed a pleasant fifteen minutes with a brace of mounted Strathclyde's finest last Thursday whilst out for my lunch I 'd suggest we all check our bikes over.
Rode past the same two tonight pulling someone over on a Gixxer, so reckon they're checking all the bikes coming out of hibernation to make sure they're all legal-ified and the like.
(Dude on the Gixxer did come across as a knob mind you, Great Western Road at 16:45 and redlined it in the first two gears away from the lights at Oran Mor, not as if there are any schools in the area or anything...)

My experience was comedy gold, if a smidge wtf?
"We stopped you as we didn't know what it was. Are you a courier and do you ever wash it?"
So, after a full pnc(?) check and a going over of the bike "What tyres are those? Chain could do with oiling. Clean your forks, Where's your numberplate light?" I was let on my way with a cheery "Wash it ya lazy foccer!!" and a check on file.

Fair play to them, me numberplate light DOES need replacing, the lead is currently tucked under the seat and her bi-annual clean and ACF treatment is due next payday.
They thought she was an off roader that someone had ziptied a number plate to...

So, make sure all is good and you've got the tax and insurance in place folks, looks to be the start of the Spring Stop 'n Check.

Hi guys and gals,

i have noticed that when i first start up , choke on , warm up, its not long b4 the rad fan kicks in, soon as i put it in gear tho, fan switches off. All seems well, never over heats etc. Ive only had the bike since last august so not sure if this is a normal thing. Its a 1000 on an 03 plate.

Thanks in advance.

Plans for IOM TT-style race in Scotland gather pace

Quote:Plans to hold an Isle of Man TT-style race meeting on the borders of England and Scotland are gathering pace with organisers getting backing from MPs, local councillors, racers and race teams.

If given the go ahead, the plans would see races happen around the Jedburgh area of Scotland, which is 10 miles from the border with England, with a programme seeing Supersport, Superbike/Superstock, Supertwin and a sidecar event being run.

"This would keep the event small enough as not to stand on the toes of established race meetings like the Northwest 200 or the Isle of Mann TT. However, it would be hoped that it could generate interest from racers and others, and be used as a tester for large events or track racing by teams until it becomes an event in its own right," said a spokesman.

The Irish road racing fraternity are very keen for this to go ahead and have even expressed an interest too include it in their yearly race calendar. The dream of this becoming a large event in its own right is a possibility, with financial gain for businesses and the area as a whole on a large scale."

The proposed circuit would be 11.1-miles in length and begin on the A68 outside Border Meringues, go north to Bonjeward on the A68 turning left towards Cleekamin, then right off the A68 onto the A698 towards Hawick. Left at the junction with the B and over the Dunion Hill. The it turns north towards Jedburgh entering the Castlegate and towards the town. Turning right at the junction on the Castlegate and the Canongate before roceeding down the Canongate turning left onto A68 and towards the start/finish.

Supporters of the scheme include: Scottish ACU, ACU, Cameron Donald, Mark Buckley, Michael Pearson, Michael and William Dunlop, Ryan Farquhar, Phil Jessopp, Colin Appleyard and Clive Padgett.
