BASTARD! (Just got run off the road)
Posted by: breadlord - 06-06-12, 12:35 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

A30 in Staines, on a roundabout. Somehow a moron tried to merge into my lane and clipped the back of my bike. Stayed upright and all he managed to do was smash half the number plate off, but I managed to put a decent ding in his passenger door with my shiny new Daytonas (No holes!). Cunt drove off without checking to see if he'd killed me. Had a bunch of Jesus fish on the back as well.

Got stopped by a plod once, but he was pretty understanding. There is an upside though, no plate meant I could blast along the south circular at 50...

  Wind buffeting from standard screen!
Posted by: TommyTheGun - 05-06-12, 06:51 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

I have a 2002 fzs600 with standard screen.  I am getting a lot of wind buffeting from the screen which is hard on the ears even with earplugs in especially when on motorways for long periods.  The buffeting seems to be mostly around my neck and chin area, I noticed if I raise myself up a few inches it gets a lot quieter.  Im 5ft 9 and my mate is 6ft 1 and also has a 2002 fazer, he says hes never had a problem with the wind buffeting and rarely feels the need for ear plugs.

Could a double bubble screen solve this for me??  I dont want to end up with tinnitus or whatever you call it.  Any feedback appreciated!

Thanks

  Mixing tyres manufacturers
Posted by: bigbluebear - 05-06-12, 05:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I just bought a metzeler roadtec z6 to match theback which had plenty of tread left. However after a bit of hard riding the back tyre has puncured and shreaded a bit. Being a bit tight I am looking to keep the z6 on the front, but I am being recomended by my mate to put a Pirelli Diablo on the back as they are from the same manufacturer rather than the metzeller z8....any one out there offer any advice

  mce insurance
Posted by: slappy - 05-06-12, 03:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

I`ve been getting insurance quotes for my gen1 1000 as its due in a couple of weeks and so far the cheapest is MCE. They have quoted £127 fully comp including breakdown cover. Does anyone know who MCE use as their breakdown and is it any good?

Exup Cable Repair (failed after 11 months)
Posted by: MightyClown - 05-06-12, 03:17 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

I posted last year (in the old forum so can't find that post) and mentioned how i had Venhill repair the exup cables by replacing the inner cable.  Others cautioned that the repair wouldn't last as the "lugs" dont last due to the heat at the exup pulley.

Well, i got 11 months or so out of them, and then one of the lugs failed and the wire came out of the screw insert in the lug.  So, while the guys at venhill can refurbish the cables at a fraction of the cost they don't seem to last.

Looks like i'm going to have to spend £130 on the yamaha items ....

  bar position
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 05-06-12, 02:39 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Alright

Had my Fazer for nearly 5 years now, and still it love it  :lol but...all this time ive felt its not quite as comfy as i want. i cant quite put my finger on it though, i think its the bars....i think there slightly in the wrong position???

When ever i sit on a bike i automatically sit bolt up right, i think this may be the problem. On the fazer i find i lock my arms when riding, i have to remind myself to drop the shoulders and relax the elbows/arms (just like when you first learnt to ride a big bike).

I bought some bar risers for my Tenere 660, but before i fit them i thought i would try them on the Fazer. There shim stacks so you can have them set to different heights.

i reckon they only higher the bars 8 - 10mm. Had a quick blast and they felt ok. Thing is i ride my Tenere 70% of the time so my Fazer always feels a bot weird now  Smile . Also to test it properly i would need to go away for a few days, a quick blast down the road isnt enough.

The top clamp though doesnt meet the bottom riser...well, it does on one side but not the other (on a standard Tenere neither side touches). there tight so its safe...i hope  Smile

also hopefully getting my seat rebuilt soon so was thinking of having a small amount (15mm?) of height added the riders part.

Its hard to solve the problem as i cant quite figure out what it is i dont like...i think the bars need to be higher (like they now are) but also curve round a tad? ( so the grips are a touch closer?)

anyone know what im on about?  Big Grin Has anyone else used bar risers...or different bars?
