Quite possibly a daft exhaust question?
Posted by: 69oldskool - 19-06-12, 06:51 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Ok,
i've decided a louder can is in order, but i'm far too tight to replace the standard one given it's in good shape & i've a long list of other "to do's"

I'm guessing there's some wadding put in there by Mr Yamaha & co.
My question being~ is it possible to remove some of it for a more sporting exhaust note & if so how?

  Spare Knockhill BSB Ticket?
Posted by: chr999chr - 19-06-12, 11:55 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Anyone got a spare Knockhill BSB ticket for this sunday? Going for a day out and taking the ferry over from Northern Ireland. I will only be able to spend a couple of hours before heading back. £30 for a couple of hours stings a bit.

  You Gotta Love Halfrauds....
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 19-06-12, 10:22 AM - Forum: General - Replies (22)

I went into my local Halfords last night to pick up a relay and some other bits so that I could hard-wire my TomTom. After spending a few minutes scouring the electrical section for one, I had to admit defeat and seek assistance. I approached the first spotty young student I saw and asked him where the relays where. He looked a bit bemused and asked me which type of relay I'd like. I told him the 12v kind. Errrr...

Another spotty student (female this time) came over and asked what the problem was. When I explained that I just wanted a 12v relay, she told me that nobody uses them anymore and Halfords stopped selling them. Are you kidding, I asked. So what do people use when they buy those big air-horns that you sell? Errrr...

So I trundled off shaking my head and walked over to the lubricant section to pick up some oil. Over there in a "Bargain Bucket" was a load of 12v Relays!  :rolleyes  On the relay there was a "Clearance Price" sticker and a hand-written "£7.99".  Hmmm, that doesn't sound like a clearance price. It has a price-code letter "T" on it so I walked over to the price board and saw that Price Code T was, in fact, £7.99

Just for the hell of it, I picked up the bargain relay and took it to the girl on the counter who'd told me they didn't sell relays and pointed it out to her. I asked her why it had a big red clearance price label on it when it was still full price? She had no answer so I asked her would she sell it to me at a reduced price and she said no.

I laid down about £60 worth of shopping that I'd gathered up and walked out. What a bunch of to$$ers  :lol

Thinking of making a come back - Q's for Gen 2 owners.
Posted by: The Male Whale - 19-06-12, 08:39 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

I am thinking of swapping my K5 1000 for a more upright bike but want the power and agility to still be up there.

What sort of mods and results can be achieved with Gen 2 on the output side? Can a R1 motor be flung at it for example?

Also, what are the suspension mods on the list to do?

Finally, anyone tried a Gen 2 and a B King which is also on my list?

More problems... non-starter and cutting out.

Had another problem develop this afternoon.  Coming home from work I filled up with petrol, same petrol station as usual (same pump even) but when I went to restart the bike just cranked over and over and didn't want to fire.  Tried a few times, then waited a minute and tried again, more cranking, then it fired up the instant I pressed the button!  Remainder of the journey (another 45 miles ish) it was fine.  When I got home I switched it off and tried starting again and it did the same thing.  It'll just randomly start working and when it does it fires up straight away.  Big backfire out of the exhaust on two occasions but that's just down to all the fuel going through it and not being burnt off I guess.

To add to this, I went for a quick run down the road and when I was turning round in a layby, sitting still in neutral it just conked out - not like a stall, but like I'd turned the ignition off.  Once I'd got it going again it rode home perfectly, plenty of power, no missing or anything.

Now this definitely sounds electrical to me, but what could it be?  It was wet this morning, but it was wet last week and had no issues then... anyone got any ideas?  Need it for work and I can't really afford to have it off the road for any amount of time  Sad

  FITTED SATNAV MOUNT TONIGHT
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 18-06-12, 09:08 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Fitted my SatNav mount tonight. Simply drilled a hole in the yoke and fitted the ramball mount shown below. With the SatNav fitted, 0-20mph is obscured by the device, but there's a true speedo reading on the TomTom anyway.
