  Gallery?
Posted by: Ben600 - 24-06-12, 07:02 PM - Forum: Your Suggestions and How you can help - Replies (3)

I might be being really thick here, but there appears to be no 'gallery' to share pictures of bikes/ ride outs.
maybe a possible thing to add to the forum, as every other forum I have used has a gallery, and it makes sharing experiences etc a whole lot easier.

pressures for Michelin Road Pilot 3's
Posted by: elektrikAlien - 24-06-12, 02:47 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I bought some Michelin Road Pilot 3's for my Gen 1 fazers 1000.
The tyre fitter told me to inflate the front tyre to 38psi and the rear to 40psi - the reason being was that the rp3's have hard compound in middle of tread and soft on the shoulders.
The manual states 36psi for the front tyre and 39psi (solo riding) for rear tyre.
What pressures  should I use???
Thanks

Yet another New Rider & Member!

This place looks busy!  :eek

Hi all - new Plymouth rider here - Huzzah!!

Just passed my DAS bike course last Friday after 18 months of pottering about on a YBR125. I'd already part exchanged the YBR for a '99 FZS600, so the pressure to pass was on! What a Friday though - straight home after passing Mod 1 & 2, insurance sorted for the Fazer then slow ride to the garage to swap bikes. And that ride home on my new bike - what a blast! Couldn't resist a quick ride up the A38 - pure joy! :thumbup

Looking forward to finding out what I can do to her with regards maintenance,  small performance improvements, hard or soft panniers for long journeys, the usual boring newb questions Wink

Here she is, haven't had a chance to do a proper photo shoot yet!

  Fuel tank breather hoses missing?
Posted by: lolliver - 24-06-12, 11:57 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Hi all!

I've bought myself an old 1998 FZS600 as a project bike. When I lifted the tank up yesterday I noticed that the breather hoses are missing, and the bits that they'd normally connect to are dry as a bone and quite rusty. Should I be concerned about this?

Also, whilst I'm on a roll  Big Grin the engine on my bike seems to have suffered the famous engine-paint-flaking problem that I'd read about. Do you guys have any suggestion on the best sort of paint to replace the stuff that's flaked off?

I read somewhere about Hammerite Smooth black paint.. Dunno if this is a silly idea though!

  FOR SALE 2000 FZS600 FAZER
Posted by: jon49 - 23-06-12, 08:31 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

FOR SALE
YAMAHA FZS600 FAZER
2000 model.
24,000 miles
MOT - 07/03/2013
TAX - 31/07/2012

For sale is my fantastic Fazer, I will be really sorry to see this go. I recently used this for a trip to the Isle of Man TT and it did me proud. Around 4 months ago a stripped this bike down and gave it a detailed clean and full service including a new air and oil filter and Silkolene oil, I splashed out and put NGK Iridium spark plugs in. While it was stripped I decided it could do with some new headers and so sourced some new Motad Stainless Steel ones and mated these to my GPR cone shaped Silencer. This bike now has a really nice not too noisy deep growl, it really does sound nice. I also purchased a Stainless steel Radiator cover to go with the headers, it has a nice subtle Yamaha tuning fork logo in the centre and is not too tacky like some I’ve seen. The radiator was painted along with the engine and also the fork legs to tart up the front end a bit. It has had HEL Braided brake lines fitted front and back and has really good stopping power. The tyres are good front and back along with the chain and sprockets which have plenty of life left in them. I felt the bike was quite heavy to turn into the turns around town and so I bought a Jack up Suspension kit for the rear from Projection Components which gives you four different options of ride height. +5mm, +15mm, +25mm and plus 40mm if I remember correctly. At the moment it is set on the highest option as I found this to be the sweetest handling through town but is also stable at high speed too. I have been racing motorbikes for 15 years and know a well set up bike when I ride one and this feels great. It even handled well when it was fully loaded with my touring kit for the IOM. The last thing I did was to recover the seat, just to make it a little different from other Fazers out there. The jacked up rear end gives it a great aggressive look and the exhaust system flows nicely with the lines of the bike. The only bit letting the bike down is a dent in the top left hand side of the tank and a few scratches here and there but I think the bike looks great. The bike also has a Spyball Alarm/Immobiliser fitted and I have just put a new battery in the fob so you wont have to worry about that. I also fitted a D/C cigarette lighter socket so you can charge phones and blow up your airbed when away touring etc and it fits in with the dash really nicely.

£1850 ono.
