  question for the cyclists
Posted by: maddog04 - 21-06-12, 09:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

I'm looking at getting a turbo trainer and don't know which one, can any of the cyclists recommend or put me off a certain make/model?
have read the wind types are the simplest, mag are better but fluid better still
also been told that only do an hour max on a turbo, any opinions on that one?

cheers

  Front forks on a Y reg FZS600...
Posted by: Ben600 - 21-06-12, 12:51 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi all, Im relatively new to this Fazer malarky, well, new to paying attention to my 'daily' bike.

I have been wondering... since I have purchased the bike, I have had the front forks re sprung etc to suit my weight. However, numerous people have told me that the forks aren't standard, due to the adjuster on the top (preload).
So I am asking, did the 2000/2001 bikes have the preload as standard?

Thanks all, Im loving my fazer btw Smile

  Hi all!

Hi all,
I'm new to the site as you can probably tell...
I have owned my little FZS600 for about a year now, covering about 10,000 miles in that time, and loved every minute Smile
Anyway, its a red FZS600 Y reg, and since I have owned it I have fitted a stainless exhaust header system, and my own home made carbon race can (stubby look, with termignoni internals/ end cap). I have also, just today fitted some ''superbike low'' bars in satin black, and fitted a Ducati supersport carbon mudguard (making all the custom bracketry required by hand).
The forks are re sprung etc for my weight, and it has a k&n filter fitted. also, a colour coded undertray and mini indicators have been fitted to the rear, and I am awaiting the front indicators to match...
Currently I am running a 120/70 front and 160/60 rear tyre combination, and all these small mods make for a very pleasant ride.

attached is a not so great quality photo of my ride Smile
Anyway, Hi all, I hope I can learn a thing or two from you guys Smile

  Indicator Reminder
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 20-06-12, 11:07 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Don't know about anyone else, but I find the indicator lamp on the Fazer dash to be quite dim and very low down out of sight.  Sad  One thing I definitely don't want to do, is leave my indicator on and give cagers another excuse to knock me off.

So tonight I got a 12v Green LED and made another warning light which will be fitted on the inside of my screen (up near the top). Since my screen is almost black, this will be a very discreet installation.  I only want one LED to warn me that either left or right indicators are on, so I had to insert a couple of diodes.

All dead simple. Once I'd soldered the LED to the cable, I used 5mm heat-shrink tube to seal the connection as can be seen in the attached photos...

  Ohlins or Nitron?
Posted by: HalfEmpty - 20-06-12, 10:26 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Help!
I would like to change the rear shock on my Fazer 8. Currently I am looking at 2 possibilities - an Ohlins unit (without external resevoir) and a Nitron with similar adjustment capabilities as the Ohlin. I have never changed the shock on any bike I have owned (over 34 years of biking - How old?  :eek ) so would appreciate any comments on either of these manufacturers.
Thank in advance for you comments. Cheers.

You've probably gone over this before, but i tried searching and couldn't find what i was looking for.Basicaly my rev counter is playing up with the ignition on everything seems fine. When i start up everything is fine for 5 seconds then the needle drops for a second then shoots up to 7k then starts working for 5 seconds then the cycle repeats i've checked the exup valve everything is free that end and i have not noticed any drop in performance. So for the love of god please help me it's driving me insane  :'(
