Posted by: chilly - 25-06-12, 06:32 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

is there any way to calculate how much ppi i will have paid on a loan? i had two loans from nat west in the early 90s totalling £4500. i was young and daft and will probably have agreed to ppi on my loans. the halifax have just sent me a cheque for £1400 so nat west are in for it next

MOT checks - a couple of questions
Posted by: Buzz - 25-06-12, 02:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Afternoon...

I got my '03 Fazer in January and as the MOT is due in a few weeks was going through the checks listed in the Haynes manual.  The only 2 things that came up were these: -

1) "Check that the rear brake torque arm is secure and that its fasteners are secured by self-locking nuts or castellated nuts with split-pins or R-pins" - I can't be sure these are nylon lock nuts but as the bike previously passed all its other MOTs and the nuts looks like they've been on since the bike was made I'm sure it's OK.  Anyone else had any problems with this, any way to check the nuts to verify?

2) "With the wheel off the ground, apply the brake then free it off, and check that the wheel is able to revolve without brake drag" - There is a slight hiss of the pads touching the disc when the brakes are off i.e. the wheel isn't totally free but will spin about 2 times with a push.  There's "drag" but it's very minimal and there's obviously no actual braking taking place in normal riding conditions.  Are the pads meant to be completely free of the disc or is this slight "hiss" acceptable?

Cheers...Buzz

FZ6 S2 rear rack (similar to Renntec for FZS600) - is there one?
Posted by: Dadbob11 - 24-06-12, 09:16 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (6)

Is there such a rack available?  I had a Renntec on my previous Fazers and would like a similar one for my FZ6.  I've searched but can't find one.

  Best fix for gen1 forks
Posted by: stonedpillock - 24-06-12, 07:59 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

Hi all!
I need to improve my front forks. Its now got 30k miles and I'm about to give it a make over. I've seen the piston kit on k-teck website anyone tried them? What make type of springs has anyone used?  I've got an r6 shock fitted from devilsyam which is better than stock but I must admit not as good as I was expecting after reading comments on the forum. No disrespect to Devilsyam top bloke and the shock was mint and worth the money as a budjet replacement.
Any way I really want to find the best way to improve the standard forks. Or is an R1 fork replacement really worth the money or just a way  to "bling" up the gen1 Wink
Also I'm still on original wheel bearings had the bike from new. When you spin the wheels I can't feel any notchiness put am wondering how much longer I should go before replacing them. There is slight play in the suspension linkage which I will do. Will use genuine yam parts unless anyone can suggest a cheaper alternative of the same quality .
