My Gen 1 is approaching 25000 miles & wondered what other "foccers" experience of this task has been. Out of curiosity I asked my local Yamaha main dealer the likely cost & was told apprx £300! :eek How easy/difficult is it to access valves-what has to be removed-indeed how important is it to do the check @ this mileage or can it be safely left to a higher mileage? According to Haynes the Americans dont do this check til 26000 miles. I am pretty confident about doing the feeler gauge bit but the shim calculation & selection process is new to me. Any thoughts gratefully considered

Hellooo good people (and the bad ones)
On Sunday I had another (last one two weeks ago) rear wheel slide, this one a scary one still dont know how I got through it, I needed a dab with the foot, I knew those years of enduro racing would come in one day.
Ive got metzler M5's fitted and they have been ace, They still have good profile, good tread, no flat spot, correct pressures and only 1100 miles on them??? But wat else can it be? Im pretty front end heavy always have been.
Ive changed nothing and only got 4200 miles on the clock so shouldnt be suspension wear yet, I set the sag before second ride but apart from that bog standard.
My gut says change tyres but I could be throwing money away.

Offered for sale my Gen 1 Black Fazer 1000. 37000ish miles, taxed and just tested. Has Scott Oiler fitted, Mint standard can, Ivans Jet kit, Givi rack and top plate for Monokey top box, Good tyres, chain and sprockets, R6 gear linkage mod, R6 Rear shock and dog bones fitted, Baglux tank cover in black, toolkit present and correct, front R and G crash bungs, NRC engine covers left and right, carbon fender extender, Puig rcarbon look Rear Hugger also fitted. optimate lead fitted.Three issues - a small off last year damageed the tank and fairing on the right. Tank has a small dent while the fairing has a scuff on the same side and a hole where the plastic ground through. No missing parts, damaged lugs etc.
Right inner fairing has broken at the two mounting points at the tank end through vibration, I assume. Other than that the bike is in good condition and is used daily.
Employment change means a commuter is not needed so offered for sale. Bike registered in my name at my address, hand book etc all present. £1450 ovno

got the bike and am starting to do more every day. only thing is,i know i should wear a cycle helmet but i just can't bring myself to wear one. i look a complete twat in a cycle helmet :lol . plus they only protect the top of my head! what about the sides and my pretty face? i have a BELL helmet but can't bring myself to wear it. i will have to start going out after dark till i get used to it. im not the coolest looking bloke by any means but these things are just shocking! anybody who puts one on and thinks "oh yeah, cooking with gas now" needs medication :biker

| Gen 2 - TPS Setting/Adjustment |

Following a recent post about a really snatchy throttle response on my '10 Plate Gen 2 my local dealer suggested it could be the TPS.
Looking online the comments are that the closed TPS setting should be between 15-18. I stuck the bike into diagnostic mode and mine is sitting at 16.
Is this ok?
Seems to be within tolerances but should it not be higher?
