Any time off to ride? - manuel32 - 04-09-12

Are any of you Focckers lucky enough to get time off work to ride the daytime in this glorious weather?

I am over booked in my work and need to get it done so cant get an afternoon off :'(

Re: Any time off to ride? - jackojet - 04-09-12

I know that feeling too well! Whenever a day off came up this summer, it's rained like foc.
Got this week off, so getting some riding in. Smile

Re: Any time off to ride? - Phil TK - 04-09-12

Got friday off to go to Le mans 24hr. Forecast is for 91C at the circuit on Sunday.
I forecast the purchase of a crate of 42 bottles of frog lager to stave off inevitable thirst.

Re: Any time off to ride? - slappy - 04-09-12

I work a really good shift pattern so get plenty of time off.It is a three week shift cycle.
First week:- Monday ,Tuesday, Wednesday nightshifts.
Second week:- Monday,Tuesday dayshifts then Thursday,Friday nightshifts.
Third week:- Wednesday,Thursday,Friday dayshifts.
These are all 12 hour shifts but the time you get off more than makes up for it!
Also if you book off the second week in the cycle as holiday you get 13 days off work.
I don`t know who worked out this shift pattern but I am grateful to them.

Been off since Thursday last week but only really been able to walk (hobble) yesterday and today.  Might go out for a ride later but I'm expecting a delivery.  Hurry up!  :grumble

I commute from Colchester to London, so loads of DC.  On the way home if it's nice I turn off 20 miles early and it's 14 miles of B roads Big Grin

Re: Any time off to ride? - noggythenog - 04-09-12

Nice one lawrence,fair enough,

Ive got a mental thing goin on where i dont wanna associate my bike with work, purely for my own time, but i imagine its a good way to de stress after a hard day all the same.

Re: Any time off to ride? - Lawrence - 04-09-12

I agree - the cooler, brighter days of Autumn (and hopefully some Winter) will provide great biking weather without all the sweaty bits  :lol

Re: Any time off to ride? - Tiberius Onklevaart - 04-09-12

from going to spring meet til now I reckon i've done about 2-3k. I have a 20 odd mile round trip to work tho, but there's been two runs to sutherland, a couple to argyll and one to east coast. another east coast run next week and week after (2 return trips of 130 odd miles) plus what i've done scooting around the city and suburbs. All weathers.

great fun

Re: Any time off to ride? - manuel32 - 04-09-12

Re: Any time off to ride? - manuel32 - 04-09-12

Did you stop off at the cafe, Llandovery? i was there last sunday, in the CAR, as my wife dont like the bike and  i had to take her out Big Grin

Re: Any time off to ride? - richfzs - 04-09-12

Re: Any time off to ride? - manuel32 - 04-09-12

I just checked the 7 day forcast and its gettingHOTTER,  25 sunday,26,27 monday, and more to come.

ooh, i had better go and see my mum in Fareham,Portsmouth on Sunday, not seen her for a while. Cant wait

Re: Any time off to ride? - noggythenog - 04-09-12

Hey manuel, yep i went to the cafe as id heard it was a bike haven, only stopped about 10 minutes though,
Really enjoyed the roads from aberystwyth to buith wells,

Roads werent too busy coz it was monday

Me and my neighbour planning to do it again on saturday,

I wanna go round the ellan valley series of resorvoirs for somewhere nice to scoff my sandwiches,

Seen them on google earth, they look pretty awesome but im guessing the roads too small for fast riding,

If im honest i dont particularly enjoy the coast road up to aberystwyth buts its a means to an end to get to the good stuff and a nice warm up.

Re: Any time off to ride? - Khaotik - 04-09-12

I was forced to take leave this week as I have too much leave accumulated. Good timing weather-wise. Did 200 miles today around Surrey, and Sussex. The A272 was still rammed with cars though Sad. When is the A272 clear?
