Never thought I would see the day when....................

Been thinking of replacing my old gas guzzling Audi V6. Pissed off with 22mpg and £220 road tax.

So yesterday I test drove the.............................

SKODA CITIGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek

Yes................ Skoda.

All 60 PS of it.

OK so its never going to beat anything else with an engine away from the lights but I thought it was a cracking little car. Well built, well appointed. It even has aircon and electric windows!!!

But of course the best bit is C.£9000 on the road.............NO ROAD TAX.............. NO CONGESTION CHARGE.............AND............70 MPG.

Big Grin Smile :lol

The Audi is now on notice.

  Hello
Posted by: stevegittins - 09-09-12, 10:22 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (6)

just joined forum today and thought it best to be polite (very unlike me!) and write a brief hello.
Got my 2001 FZS1000 about 6 weeks ago having swapped and sold my way through 12 other bikes over the last 2 years. Been riding for 30 years but have no intention of becoming sensible anytime soon!
Loving the bike so far...reg is Y92BAA in case anyone on here knows it?
Yellow and Black speed block paintjob
been told it's fully Ivanised....which I believe as it's 'kin fast!
digi gear indicator
manual fan switch
renthal bars
pazzo levers
hugger
cut down oval micron can
can't drag myself off ebay since I bought it and have treated it to a bellypan, bagster seat, frame plugs, tank and yoke protector! There are a few more things in my watch list too (much to the wife's dismay!)
looking forward to a long relationship with this one (previous bike only lasted 2 weeks before I was bored!)
cheers all....enjoy the sun if you're not stuck at work like me!

Bike has run hot - what to check and diagnostics
Posted by: Kenny Dave - 09-09-12, 09:26 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

I went on holiday and had a bit of a disastrous trip with the bike. Long story short, she's run without coolant for quite a long time so has run ever so hot. There are two coolant pipes that go into the head around the barrels, the o-rings for these have, incredibly, melted.

So that I know how to sort, although whether it's possible we'll see. What I'm asking about is what else I should be checking and looking at in this situation. I'll test it thoroughly next weekend after I've got a plan of action, I've only had a brief look so far.

The head gasket seems to be ok, although it's just under where it's leaking from so it's hard to be sure. The coolant I think is draining in slowly, and didn't all drain after I filled it and pulled the plug. Could this be something normal, non circulation or some such? I'm totally inexperienced with coolant systems. I'm worried that the rubber has run into places it shouldn't be Sad There is rad weld in the coolant system, about 4 times as much as suggested on the bottle, so maybe this too.

Any advice greatly appreciated. And yes, I am a stupid and lucky boy that it didn't seize and chuck me off.

  NO DRIVE
Posted by: Jimmygixxer - 08-09-12, 08:35 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Changed the bars today to a set of renthals, went to go for a test run but the bike wont move. :eek
I goes into gear no problem, but when i release the clutch lever nothing.
When on the centrestand in 1st gear it will move the wheel slowly.
The cable play at the lever is spot on as i adjusted it at the sprocket cover a few weeks back because there was no adjustment left at the lever from previous owner.
I did notice that when i put my finger on the clutch plates i can get a small bit of movement from them which didn't seem right, so i stripped the clutch.
There doesn't seem to be much material left on the friction plates but they aren't bald and the last time i was out on the bike it ran 100% with no clutch slip at all which is strange and it never has before, and the steel plates seem to be in good order?
I also noticed when i looked through the oil fill hole when the bike was in gear and running, that the hole clutch assembly would rotate as it should, but with a bit of back brake the center part would stop and the engine would comfortably still rotate the outer part.
So i assume its the clutch, any ideas and what parts should i get?

hi all , passed my mod 2 on wed 5 sept and 2 days later treated myself to the 600 cc fazer.LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!

bought it near oxford and i live in ramsgate ,kent so got to know it a bit on the way home, but the only poor thing about it are the headluights (already read some old posts on here about the headlight mods )
although im restricted to it being 33hp as i passed test on 125 cc the fazer still seems bloody fast -though im not pushing the bike at all hard
so there you have it ,-hopefully i will learn all the tips and mods you guys have on this forum and hope soon to have some input as well
cheers Wink
