Server errors
Posted by: Farjo - 25-09-12, 02:41 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

It reminds me of a cartoon in an old Punch mag. There's a psychiatrist and a chap on the sofa, and the psychiatrist says "OK so you blew the first day, so today is the first day of the rest of your life!"

Similarly, the switch-over to a new server was a disaster, so today is the first day to post any problems with accessing foc-u.

There will always be times when you get an error, with a single refresh fixing it. But having to do this repeatedly or having to refresh a number of times is not on. If this happens to you please post below so that I can give a full picture to our host.

Thanks for your patience :thumbup

Hi guys just wondering what you think of these, I am thinking of buying one to replace the I already have as it has a couple of cracks in it and want to replace it. Also if anyone has one of these for sale ( in good condition) let me know.

  Excessive engine breaking? Sticky brakes?
Posted by: Arfa - 25-09-12, 12:58 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

I've had my 2003 FZS600 for a couple of weeks now, all going well, but it seems to have quite heavy engine breaking when letting off the gas.  i.e. you want to slow down, let off the throttle, no brakes, bike slows quite heavily, it doesn't coast as much as I'd anticipate.

Now, I don't know if this is just the bikes character, whether it's me just being a newbie rider, or whether there really is something up with the bike. First guess was sticky brake syndrome. However, it does seem to roll freely enough, when pushed by hand and engine off. Can't hear pads scraping.

May well just be me, did only pass my DAS a month ago! and still not riding as smooth as I should be. Just got to watch it in traffic, as the bike slows a lot and I get cars coming pretty close behind, as I've got no brake light on you see. :-(

Any thoughts?

Cut down seat for shorter riders.
Posted by: Arfa - 25-09-12, 12:48 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

I've got a 2003 FZS600, which is fine for me, however my wife finds it a bit high. She's a bit of short ass at only 5'2", and with feet down can only touch floor with tip toes... I use the bike most of the time, but now and again, my wife would like to take it out. We were thinking it would be a good plan to get a second seat that's cut down a bit for her. Dead quick to swap over and would help her get her feet flat on floor.

Is there anywhere I can get another seat off the shelf? Or would it be a case of getting another official seat and customising it? Any recommendations for any one who can do this?

Gen 1 braided lines - 3 line set-up, pics please?
Posted by: JayB - 25-09-12, 12:14 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Bought a used 3 line set, just fitted but I'm not 100% happy.

They are Goodridge and use the original splitter, but the one from the splitter up to the master cyl was longer than the original, by about 4 or 5 inches.. I struggled for ages trying to sort out the best route for the hose without it either odscuring the rev counter, getting stuck against the fairing or trapped on lock.

I have ended up with it coming up in front of the bottom yoke, like original, then round the upper part of the fork leg and into the master cyl. It does not foul anywhere and stays the same distance from everything when turning lock to lock, but it seems odd to me and I am just not sure if it is OK to be overly long...?

  Front Sprocket
Posted by: bigbluebear - 25-09-12, 10:50 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (12)

I'm sure there a few out there that have changed the gearing and dropped down a tooth on the front sprocket. Am I right in thinking that the standard is 16 and dropping down will make a significant difference to acceleration, I am aware that the top end speed will be compromised but not sure of how much.....any replies on this subject will be very much appreciated.

CJ Riders Fund last leg Lydden to Brands Hatch
Posted by: Grandma - 25-09-12, 09:26 AM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (1)

Here you go. All the info for the ride that Ian starts on Saturday afternoon from Silverstone. Ian Sinclair a Racesafe Marshall for the BSB will be riding off from Silverstone on 30th September(BSB Weekend) and riding to 18 British race circuits over 14 days. Thats over 2,800 miles. Tracks to be visited are Rockingham, Cadwell, Mallory, Croft, Knockhill, Donnington, Snetterton, Blyton Park, Bedford, Goodwood, Thruxton, Castle Combe, Anglesey, Abingdon, Scarborough(Olivers Mount) a full 38 mile lap of Isle of Man TT circuit arriving back at Brands Hatch on the Friday 12th October ready for the end of season race. The Chris Jones riders fund has pushed the medical support at BSB events fowards from the tradition of a very basic emergency stablisation to a more holistic medical service. The xray machines means that riders with no fracture know this within minutes and if there is no other injury are able to ride in the next session. Previously, travelling to hospital and long waits in the emergency department took most of the day up meaning missing out qualifying or the race. The CJ Riders Fund also provides specialist physios at every BSB round, as well as all the medical equipment from neck braces to a plaster. Anyone wishing to sponsor Ian can go to http://www.cjridersfund.com and then to the events page where you can read more and then follow the link to the just giving page and the rest is up to you. http://www.justgiving.com/cjrfPleased to say all the team from RG Racing have donated over £200 alone. Plus a few riders from various series stock 600's 1000's 125's TTC have also helped raise money for Ian to go towards a great cause.

This ride is looking for support to join in for the last leg from Lydden race circuit, to make a grand entrance to Brands Hatch on Thursday 11th October, I am planning to ride from Lydden as soon as I know the leaving time will post to Group.
