600 vs 1000
Posted by: darrsi - 16-10-12, 08:55 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (29)

I've been occasionally looking from afar at the Fazer 1000's, and have noticed that a few of you have the 600 and a 1000 too, and was just wondering what your thoughts were on the main differences of the 2 bikes.
To be totally honest i mainly use my bike for work, which isn't that far away anyway, and i've got the bike running just how i want it, which is very good, but would appreciate any opinions or plusses and minuses please?

Cheers, Darren.

Hi chaps and chap-ets

Thought I'd join the site as I've just bought my first really big bike. A 2003 FZS600 with a few high miles on, but seemed well looked after. Got it cheap as the previous owner found a headlight problem, but a quick change of the relay put that to rest.

Anyway, hi from sunny Scarborough

Thanks once again.

Jim

  Radiator Guard warning and tip
Posted by: richiomtt - 16-10-12, 09:47 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Was shocked to see that my rad had generated a pin-hole leak after riding to work yesterday :eek

I took the rad guard off (Beowolf with etched Fazer) and realised that it had been rubbing on the rad as the rad paint was worn off in a small area (about a 1/2 to 2/3's of the way down towards the left of the bike) and I'm sure that caused the hole. It kind of naturally bends in the middle. A proper clean-up and araldite metal putty and she's watertight again.

So the solution to prevent this again was to add two stainless spring washers on each side of the bottom two mounts to lift the rad guard clear of the rad, coupled with two new shiny allen stainless bolts. Job done hopefully  Wink

Cheers
Rich

  water in fuel tank
Posted by: gordon - 16-10-12, 08:33 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

help needed , as i opened fuel filling cap i noticed water was sitting on the rubber but some went in fuel tank.

thought there was a drain pipe so that didnt happen, i know there are two pipes under the tank but which one is not the breather pipe ? ( as you sit on the bike ) . all ready got new filler cap at a cost of £37 so its not that as why the water is getting in there.

cheers guys  :eek

  coil problem
Posted by: steve upton - 15-10-12, 09:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Went to work on bike last  Monday all good. Went to ride home and no start. AA man comes out quick check, both coils packed up. Ordered new coils off flea-bay fitted on Saturday all good again. Only did about 20 miles over the weekend on 2 short trips. Rode to work this morning fine went to leave tonight and no start. whipped off no.1 plug cap earthed it to engine turned her over and no spark. So my bike is eating coils the question to everyone out there please is does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Oh yes journey to work is 43 miles so coils lasted about 60miles :'( Thankyou in anticipation

Posted by: Andy R - 15-10-12, 09:46 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (6)

I may need a standard rear shock in the next couple of weeks if I end up selling my bike without the Ohlins. Has anyone got one that isn't leaking and is in reasonable condition that they are willing to part with? If so, how much and can you send me a photo please to    aratcliffeATntlworld.com
Thanks
Andy
