  lowering forks
Posted by: bigsteve - 21-10-12, 09:07 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi
Hypothetical question I have read and heard about dropping your forks 10mm through the yokes to help handling in corners
I was wondering would fitting either longer shock or shorter dog bones to raise the rear have the same result??
I ask this as seat height isn’t a problem for me and planning on sorting suspension over winter
Cheers  Smile

  Windscreen seal solution needed
Posted by: para300 - 21-10-12, 08:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hi
When I wash me beloved Mk1 Fazer, a small problem arises.  Soapy water gets under the front screen due to a lack of a simple seal. The Mk2 fazer has factory fitted seal attached to the front faring to seal the screen when in place.

Does anyone know of an off to self screen seal I can buy or do I need to get abit imaginative to solve this issue.

People have suggested a thin draft excluder seal but as my screen is completely clear I want it to look professional and not a bodge job.

Any suggestions welcome

Regards
Craig

  Anyone tried a R6 shock on a 600?
Posted by: bwizz - 21-10-12, 05:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (26)

Just thinking of this years winter projects. I have a thou rear shock on my 600 ( See Old Forum) but I was wondering how the R6 shock would suit my 600.
I know the spring rates are different between the two bikes, but the thou is a gas shock and I have heard that 70% of the springing is added by the gas.  I seem to remember that the diameter of the R6 shock is slightly smaller than the thou standard one so may not foul the overflow tank (again old forum)
Might give it a go shortly as I have a R6 shock on my thou , so would not cost me ow't

  Word of warning
Posted by: S Baker - 21-10-12, 04:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Had a near miss just before I went on holiday, - Pissin down with rain, goin to shop.Rounded roundabout, suddenly lost back end.Managed to save it. First thought,-deisel,then red light on dash, looked down, right foot covered in oil -pissin out everywhere.
Managed to limp home and left bike till after hols.
On return, checked it over. The culprit was the oil delivery pipe behind downpipes, small split.
Id noticed before that this pipe is subject to rusting up and cleaned it off several times.
Lucky it was raining,or I would have been travelling much faster. Also lucky I was near home!
So,all you Fockers, take a look at the feed pipe now and again,-it could save you a big off!

How do I Winter-proof my bike?
Posted by: Blisteredfingerz - 21-10-12, 03:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hi all
Winters coming, so what are some good methods of preparing my bike in order to help prevent rust and corrosion?
I will start this off;
*Keeping chain clean and lubed
*Installing a fender extender and rear hugger?
*Correct type, amount and dilution of antifreeze.
