Has anyone done away with the airbox and just fit filters straight onto the carbs?
If so what size of clamp on filter did you need?

Re: airbox removal - MadDogMcQ - 24-10-12

I'm guessing that would effectively weaken the mixture (certainly not something you want), so you'd be wise to adjust it accordingly as part of a Dyno-Run.

Re: airbox removal - Tmation - 24-10-12

there a few kits about,

http://ivansperformanceproducts.com/FZ1kit.htm scroll down the page a bit to see pictures.

But read all the pages for the FZ1 (The American name for the FZS1000 or 2001-2005 bike), the pod filters offer no power gains over a correctly modified air-box and performance filter.

Or another tuning place: http://www.holeshot.com/fz1/fz1_stage2.shtml

If you like the look and the extra noise go for it.

modern cv carbs dont like pod filters, they can be a nightmare to set up properly, the carbs work better with a airbox

+1 Solorider, that's what I've heard too?

Re: airbox removal - devilsyam - 26-10-12

I've ran them with ivans kit did it for looks really didn't notice any difference between full monty with and withoutSmile

Re: airbox removal - manuel32 - 27-10-12

It,s probably the trumpet lengths that are the important factor.

Re: airbox removal - Falcon 269 - 27-10-12

It's certainly the case that without fitting correct length velocity stacks inside the pods, you will suffer low-midrange power loss over a modded airbox and K&N type filter.
