Yamaha FZS1000 parts - Ohlins Shock, Titax Levers
Posted by: MikeH57 - 12-11-12, 05:02 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

Ohlins rear shock.
In Good Condition - it transformed the ride of the Fazer for me. These are ruinously expensive new - however, this one's used - so you can have it for £400 (less than half the new price)

Titax Adjustable Short Levers.
Both Clutch & Brake Levers - In Very Good Condition - £50 for the pair (less than half the new price)

These were fitted to my 2003 (53) FZS1000 - should fit any of the first gen models

Both items now sold - thanks for looking

  FZS 600 Oversteer
Posted by: spoonlamp - 12-11-12, 04:55 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

Right. I've replaced my written-off red FZS600 for a beautiful silver FZS600!

Only negative I can find with the bike so far after a week of riding is that it steers strongly into the corners. My last one you could practically go round with your hands off the bars but this one I'm having to counter-steer quite a bit.

What would be the cause? Has the rear suspension been raised or something? Anything to do with front forks?

Thanks in advance to any replies.

EDIT: Thanks for moving this to the correct section of the forum  Big Grin

  Anyone got a Bagster 1419u fitted? (Gen-1)
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 12-11-12, 04:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

Hi. Anyone got a Bagster (1419u) Tank protector fitted to their Gen-1?

If so, how good a fit is it? I've had quite a few on various bikes and some were a better fit than others.

Photos??  Wink

  Footpeg bolt size
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 12-11-12, 02:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Fitted some engine bars over the weekend, but managed to cross thread and round out the head on the last bolt  :o

I need to buy a new one and therefore need to know what size it is. It's one of the ones holding on the right foot peg.

Anyone know?

  Let the Winter Maintenance Commence
Posted by: bigbluebear - 12-11-12, 01:40 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (9)

Its that time of year again when the bike gets its winter servicing, some performance add ons and cleaned up and put away until the spring (need to get a winter hack). With the bike shops getting a bit short of work this time of year its time to get some good prices.
Nitron NTR Sport Shock ordered.....hoping to see a vast improvement in handling
Booked in for Valve Clearance and Full Service.....24k on the clock now, taking no chances
Wheels getting powder coated gloss black and possibly the side radiator guards......fed up with the polished rims and hours of autosol

This year I have already had three new tyres, been ivanised, new chain and sprockets (front sprocket down a tooth), new air filter and new battery.....if the missus found out how much I spend she may want a wee service too  :lol

  Hello!
Posted by: ChristoT - 12-11-12, 12:22 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Hi!

I picked up my Fazer on Saturday from HGB in Ruislip. Only had it 2 days, already loving it!

I am an 18yr old engineering student at the University of Hertfordshire, but live in Northern France (hence why I traded in a Vardero 125 for the FZS).

The bike is a black 2001 FZS600, and goes pretty well (though I've had to have it restricted. Dang it). It's got a belly pan, hugger and part of the front mudguard chopped off (will be fixing that soon).

So yeah... Hello!  Smile

  Tank and Saddle Bags
Posted by: andybesy - 11-11-12, 08:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi, Can anyone recommend soft luggage to fit an 02 FZS 600?

I've decided against hard luggage for the time being as I just can't afford it, but am really getting in to my touring.

I'd need to find myself a tank bag and a pair of saddle bags.

Does pretty much any bag fit any bike? Or are there specific ones which are known to fit the fazer well?

A mate lost his saddle bags on the M6 at speed and I'm eager to avoid a repeat of this incident. Do they all secure well?

Any recommendations and advice welcome.

Thanks, Andy
