  Depreciation
Posted by: Fazerjon - 27-11-12, 01:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

I was and thats a big WAS toying with the idea of getting an adventure bike until I started looking to see what my bike is worth.I couldn't believe how much it has depreciated in less than a year! In march this year I bought my brand new FZ1-N which was listed in the showroom at £9999.00 The dealer came down to £9000 and we settled on a deal in which I part ex'd my 600 Fazer. If I wanted to sell the FZ1 privately according to Parkers Guide, I'm looking at £6300! And a dealer wasnt prepared to go much over £5,000! Thats an insult. Admittedly that was an 'over the phone book price' but even so, Ive only done 3300 miles and she's mint! Ive Just seen brand new FZ1-N's on ebay from Yamaha dealers at £7495. Gutted, I think I'll be hanging on to it for a good few years now. Smile

  Sad time
Posted by: squitbit - 27-11-12, 01:32 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (35)

It's come to the point that having reached 54 years old, I'm getting rid of my beloved Gen 1. It's tatty as hell, battered tank, as it's been a scrote magnet and been hit over while at a standstill a few times. Engine paint affected by salt, split in the seat. 61k miles, engine sound as a pound though. Always serviced by me, don't trust stealers. Decent BT023's, recentish brake pads (Carbon Lorraine A3+). was used day in day out for 66 mile round trip to Bridgend and back until I was on sick for a while. Got a car now and resigned to not having another bike, can't be doing with turning up for work in the winter not being able to feel my hands. It's on a 54 plate, reg'd 2/11/04, mine since then. Would make a great project or winter hack. I'll take 1100 for it and will have a tear in my eye if and when it goes. Located a few miles from Newport in south Wales. One of the triangular plastic bits under the seat is cracked, as is the fairing. Top of the range DID chain fitted with new sprockets I've got a spare tank, on the way to being prepped for spraying the right blue (it's deep purplish blue metallic), it has a Pyramid hugger plus a spare carbon look one, R6 shock mod, still got the original. Ivanised (SO version, fitted by Mike in 2005). AIS has been removed. Renthal bars, clutch lever is a bit of a botch as I keep getting sent the wrong ones, but works OK. I've also got a new genuine Yamaha oil filter to throw in and another screen (has a blue iridium one fitted). I have some decent quality clothing as well but that's not part of any deal. Pics available on request. Oh, MOT'd till April, currently on SORN.

  Sports Personality of the Year

Just announced the shortlist.
Obviously becoming the first brit in 12 years to get on the podium in motogp isn't good enough to get on the list.
Bad luck Cal it was just the wrong year to do it. Maybe win a race next year and you'll get in there.

Newb - wants advice on spec for a MK1 Fazer 1000 purchase
Posted by: nigelp - 26-11-12, 09:39 PM - Forum: Introduction - No Replies

Hi there
I'm looking to buy a Mk1 Fazer 1000 and hope people on here can offer me some advice on what to look for/avoid!
I currently own a ZX9R E1 which I will be keeping, I now need something with straighter bars and more luggage capacity due to carpal tunnel in both wrists.
I would appreciate any links to articles/threads etc on suspension/brake/bodywork/performance mods, I am looking to have a fast road spec bike initially, then add luggage and maybe R1 upgrades to the running gear, also an Ivan kit.
Thanks in advance.
Nigel

I stumbled onto an interesting exchange on't interweb earlier regarding something that came up on here a while ago, I think it highlights excellently why you shouldn't argue on the internet

Brand new Xbox 360 S 250gb with Forza 4 and Skyrim
Posted by: Stunts - 26-11-12, 02:54 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (7)

Hi all,

I'm selling a brand new Xbox 360 250GB. My original one was stolen and this is the insurance replacement. I already bought a new Star Wars Limited edition console, so this new replacement isn't required.

I bought it today (26/11/12) with an insurance replacement card, hence I need to sell it for cash Smile

It is new and unopened and I'm after £190 including postage or £185 collected.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I am not one for riding through the winter even the "off road" stuff is way to cold for me at this time of year. When I was younger I had no choice when my only mode of transport was the bike though.......never had to endure this route on my way to work...check it out
