Wheel size. Shock. Embarrassment
Posted by: AyJay - 03-12-12, 10:11 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Since I ride in London, I'm always checking the back wheel on the Gen 1 for nails and what have you, and today whilst checking I noticed that I'll be needing a new tyre in a couple of weeks time.

Nothing unusual there, but while I was spinning the wheel, I thought I'd check what profile it is. I know it's a 180 width. And lo and behold, there embossed on the tyre was the legend 160/60!

The dealer must have ordered for a 600 Fazer. Front and rear are Bridgestone 023s.

So, that's the shock. The embarrassment is that I haven't noticed over 5000 miles that it's the wrong tyre. Except, as it's worn down, I have noticed that the usual flop into a corner you get with a flattened off centre hasn't happened, and it definitely leans over more on the side stand than it does normally. And now I come to think of it, it's felt very agile and chuckable of recent. Hmm. Maybe I have noticed ...

But as far as grip and stability go, er, it's been business as usual. Not that we've had much chance of proper riding this year, what with the weather of course, but there have been one or two days where I've been proper thrashing it. And that v10 M5 was despatched with ease round my favourite corner ..

Anyone else had used a 160/60 on the thou, or noticed any big changes to feel with different widths/profiles etc?

High speed race in the rain, a couple dead.
Darwinian theory at work. Some less dumb asses on the road.

  iPad problems
Posted by: fireblake - 03-12-12, 07:40 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Does anyone know how to sort out a few issues I'm having?

If I use my iPad to access this forum I have to double tap to read the threads. One tap to open each category but two to open the thread?
Also if I open a thread with a photo on the first page it flashes back and forth to the category page really fast and doesn't stop till I tap on another thread?

Any ideas???

  Airhawk alternative
Posted by: bigfootpete - 03-12-12, 06:06 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the airhawk, which should do the same job then try these guys:
http://www.danmedicasouth.co.uk/category...seat-pads/  £59 for what looks like a decent cushioned seat.

I have the gel seat already, and just ordered the bead seat for my long flight back home, I may just use it on the bike as well Smile

They have just changed the M/C page - I went to order online as was annoyed to find the postage was £12! I sent them an
e-mail and was told it should be £4.99 - so best to phone up your order as the website isn't correct.

Switching speedo reading to KPH from MPH
Posted by: darragh360 - 03-12-12, 12:45 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

hi all!

Been lurking for a year now and I have gotten away with not registering because if I do I know I'll get suckered into posting shite every week!  :rollin So here we go!!

I've had my Fazer for 1.5 years now. I'm living in Ireland. The bike originally came from the UK. It has a KPH face on it. 0-220kph I think. But it is reading in mph!! Weird. It is pointing at 100kph but I am travelling near on 100mph.

I seen this post a while ago and it got me thinking - "cos mine's an import bike and it has a special gizmo hidden in the connector box under the tank that converts KM to Miles by transmitting 5 pulses out of every 8. The speedo reads only MPH but has an "MPH" sticker over the original "KPH". It reads up to 220MPH!"

Is there a way I can switch my bike back to pointing at KPH? Any tutorials online on it?
