  Winter blues banished!
Posted by: JayB - 31-12-12, 01:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hey guys and girls, hope you all had a good christmas.

The bike had been sat down the end of the garden in it's barn for 2 weeks and I couldn;t bear it anymore, so Saturday I went out for a 40 mile spin, even though we had gusts of about 40mph down here in the South East. Had a blast, bike felt good, having seated the spark plug cap, it's definitely more responsive on part-throttle and through the mid-range.
I also went out again yesterday, roads damper, but much less windy and did an almost identical route.
Bloody brilliant. I have been having dark thoughts about selling it for something with a fairing again, but the past 2 days' riding have put a smile on my face, fresh Pirellis, engine running much better and having got used to my lower bars and clamps.
Can't wait to fit the BMW shock to get more weight on the front and more control at the rear.

  New toy project!
Posted by: ghostbiker - 30-12-12, 11:21 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Brought myself a toy now that i have a garage to play with Smile

Been stuck in a shed for 2 years then a garden for a year or so.
I thought it was bad but now i have started taking bits off its a lot worse than i thought heheh
never had a project before really other than a trike. so the idea is basicly to get it running and either use it for fun at the local airfield or maybe if i want a lot of punishment then get it mot'd

pictures make it look MUCH better than it is Tongue most of the electrics are rotted or held together with block conectors and the paint is screwed, fairing cracked and tank leaks like a tea bag Smile (didnt know that till i filled it up)

Oil choice - Castrol GTX? Or Power 1?
Posted by: Arfa - 30-12-12, 09:58 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Need some oil for my Fazer, just a wee top up. Foxeye 2003 FZS600. Spotted some Castrol GTX 10W40 in ASDA going very cheap (£12 for 4L), but wasn't 100% sure if suitable, so didn't get it. Is it any good? Could see anything on it about additives etc.
Searching back on here, I see others suggest Castrol GPS Power 1. Going to the Castrol site, they suggest Power 1 Racing 4T or Power 1 4T (fully or part synthetic). But obviously both are coming it at £30+ - quite a difference. Smile

Posted by: bikerboy1000 - 30-12-12, 01:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hi Guys,
I have my 2002 fzs 600 which has done 36,000 miles connected to a solar battery charger in my garage as I have no power.
after switching off my datatool system 3 alarm, I try and start my bike, it is not turning over, there is just a loud electrical click, could it be my battery or it possible there is something faulty like the alternator, and if it is the alternator, could I check it myself with my multimeter ?
The solar battery charger has an output of 2.4 watts.
Is there anything else I should check as I am reluctant to put it in to a garage as it might be something simple.
All help appreciated,

I have been looking at these. Has anyone got one ? If so what are they like and does the bracket fit to an FZ1 with the original mudguard and number plate bracket removed ?
