Hi
Need some advice
i live in a 2 bedroom terraced house, combi bolier, 3 rads up stairs, 3 down stairs, 8mm micro bore piping.
Needed to take the living rad off as im getting the walls skimmed. I bought new valves for it (thermostate & lock sheild) so thought i will drain down the whole system, fit the new valves, refill with inhibator and bobs your uncle! ......but not quite.........
All three down stairs rads have locksheild valves with drain valves (but my new ones dont) and the upstairs dont. So put a hose pipe on the living room one, cranked it open and water pissed out for a bit 4 seconds and that was it???? so i thought the washer may have jammed. So did the same on the hall rad....water pissed out down the hose pipe for abit 2 secs and that was it????? that cant of drained the whole system??? :o
So disconnected the living rad and got about half a bucket of water out of the rad it self. The boiler is displaying zero pressure. Took the shut off cap off the thermostate valve, screwed the stat back on, opened it and closed - no water, did the same with the locksheild valve...no water.
so are the pipes drained but air holding water inside the other rads? and once ive changed the valves and fit the new ones will i have to put inhibitor inside that rad?
answers on a postcard.

| changing front brake lever |

Afternoon all,
First things first, this is a newbie technical post, appreciate any response you have time to give....
Long story short, taxi plus me on my S reg Fz6 equals me on the ground, no major harm done to me or the bike thanks to engine bars, only a front brake lever bent almost totally around at the end. Brake is still working fine and I've been riding no problems. Got a spare front brake lever in the post and was going to fire away and replace. Looked simple enough, one bolt, decided to newbie-proof myself in case it wasn't that simple, don't like messing with brakes....they're kinda important to the whole stopping side of things.
Saw a post online about problems with the little hydraulic plunger popping out when the lever is taken off, brakes locking up afterwards....
Is this something that I can do myself? Am I going to do something stupid and regret it? I'm learning my way around the bike which I have since before xmas but have a long way to go.
As i said, any and all help will be appreciated.
Cheers.

I've sheared one of the bolts while trying to remove the old rear brake disc, is there any way I can remove it without resorting to a drill?
Also, has anyone got any tips on removing the rest of the bolts as they all seem to be well and truly stuck?
Many thanks

I have an FZ1-N and my other half has a Triumph Speed Triple. We have a couple of trips planned this year and neither bike is great for taking luggage. We're only intending to take soft luggage, as we're hiring cottages and so just need the luggage for the trips there and back. Has anybody with a naked bike tried out a reasonable sized magnetic tank bag? We're a bit concerned that with windblast, if we go too fast, the tank bag magnets might be overwhelmed. Has anybody got any experience, good or bad, of using a magnetic tank bag on an unfaired FZ1/6/8?
Thanks.

Hi Folks,
I was thinking of changing my clocks on my 98 fzs600 to an aftermarket set - has anyone had any experience/or issues doing this? It looks possible, though i wasn't sure if i needed to do some funky with the throttle position sensor (i think it runs via the clocks, though will need to study the wiring diagram - i may be wrong..)
Any help appreciated,
Thanks
Ian, Glasgow

Hi folks,
before I look at picking up a new set, just thought I'd check around and see if anyone had a spare set of downpipes in decent condition; my MOTs not due for a while so not in too much of a rush, but if anyone's got something suitable gimme a shout,
Ian
