Hi all,
Recently found my way back on here after seeing the link.
I thought the old board had gone very quiet !
Any way, good to see some old names and a lot of new ones.

First job was to order the R6 shock from Devilsyam - very helpfull.
Should have that sorted next week.

And Mike (Falcon69) - how's the old 7K chestnut??

Regards
DaveO

Clutch won't disengage after removing sprocket cover
Posted by: white.rhino - 05-03-13, 07:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hi all

I took my front sprocket cover off today to firstly check if I actually still had a front sprocket nut (I do!), and secondly to clean all the gunge out of there (it was disturbingly messy - grease, a few rocks etc).

After putting everything back together, I seem to have a clutch adjustment-related problem. When I pull the clutch lever in, it doesn't disengage - i.e. put it into 1st gear on the centre-stand and the wheel starts going.

The only thing I can think of that's changed is that I've chucked the gasket for the sprocket cover - it was wrecked when I took it off, and it doesn't do much anyway. Will order a new one in due course anyway...

I have tried adjusting the clutch cable (at the sprocket end) to no avail - I can get it to the point where it's so tight that I can't even pull the lever in all the way. Even then, the wheel still spins with the clutch pulled in.

Any thoughts? I need the bike in the morning... didn't think I'd manage to mess anything up doing something so simple (apparently)  :rollin

Cheers
Jon

  Help/advice needed
Posted by: FazerJett - 05-03-13, 06:40 PM - Forum: General - Replies (17)

Hello to anyone who remembers me from years ago on the old site. After being left in the garage for a few year, I finally got my y-reg Fazer back on the road last December. Have really enjoyed my commute for the last few months, cold weather and all. Until last night! A van reversing into a drive suddenly pulled out in front of me. I wasn't going too fast, and managed to get some braking done before I hit the side of the van head on, so impact wasn't too bad. Apart from some very sore ribs, I'm OK. Bike looks very secondhand and is unrideable, so had to leave it at the roadside. Just learnt that it looks like he had no insurance. Suddenly no-one at Bennetts and their satellite agencies is interested in helping me, because there's no third party insurance to recover against. So all that talk about replacement leathers and helmet, replacement hire bike until mine is sorted... has gone out the window. Can't even get it collected. RAC want £156 plus £1.68 per mile to recover it.
Any ideas how to get the bike home before some scrote helps himself?
Thanks
Jonathan
