Clear out, Oxford tailpack, Castrol 5W fork oil
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 06-04-13, 02:46 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (44)

Hi guys, having a clear out of the garage so selling some bits I no longer need/want.
Due to the limit on pics for each post I will do multiple posts with pics for each item. Pm me if interested.
Ideally I would rather the items were picked up from Milton Keynes area. I am willing to travel and meet if not too far and the cost of my petrol is covered. (Thinking of attending the Brum bike shed meet if that helps at all)
Happy to sort out postage on items but at buyers cost and I am open to offers if you feel my price is too high.
Just wanted to give you guys 1st chance before they went on ebay.

1st up is an ART can. it does not have any BS stamps but was fitted to my 600 and then my thou and both went through MOT without any advisories. (not sure exhausts need to be stamped any more its now down to MOT blokes decision I believe) Condition is a little tatty and could to with a good clean. Has a small dent but this is on the inside on fazers and is not visible when fitted. The ends are stainless but the main body is aluminium. it is very light weight, weighs much less than the blueflame stainless can I now have on the bike.
Straight through can with no bolt in baffle. in truth I never thought it was that loud on either bike.
Must have cost a fair it in its day but looking for £40 collected  (also have a link pipe for a 600, want £5 for that. Could sort a deal if you want both)

  New addition to the family!
Posted by: Dave48 - 06-04-13, 01:42 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Have got a nice 2003 FZS 600 coming on Tuesday to join "Big Red". I wont get confused as the new addition is BLUE.
Now don't get me wrong I love "Big Red" but sometimes want to ride something a little smaller/lighter so am very happy to have the choice. Bike looks very well cared for but I shall still give it the end to end checks/service/fluid changes
Finally the air temp is approaching 10 C so its like a balmy Spring day after the arctic winds! Oh Happy Grandad! :lol

  98 Fzs6 reverting from 2/3 cyclinders to 4 constantly.
Posted by: KyleBeeson - 06-04-13, 12:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Hello basically I have a 98 fazer with 35k on the clock, I brought the bike about 6 weeks ago, its very hard to explain the problem I'm having.. basically I first noticed that my bike would lose throttle response and judder, basically would pull the throttle back 1/4 way and nothing would happen then a few seconds later it would kick in but eventually the engine would be running down the revs, pulling back the throttle would do nothing, pulling in the clutch would cut the engine.. while stopped, sometimes it'd start back up straight away other times you had to wait 1-15 minutes, always basically starting on 2-3 cylinders, would have to manually pull the throttle back to keep the engine alive, eventually it would revert to all four, I've put in 50:1 fst fuel additive , which on the bottle says its the most i should put it (360ml, 18 litre tank) but it hasnt helped at all really, I've been told carb freeze by someone, but i cant see how mine suffers from it so bad, and two friends of mine has a foxeye 02 fazer, and the other has a 98-99 one, its been like this for the duration and it being my first big boy bike has left me frustrated not being able to feel comfortable riding it knowing if i give some beans i could face 15 minutes sat trying to start it, the only difference is on my bike I have a aftermarket can, and they are both using stock cans, any help would be amazing, thanks

  Oil Cooler Leak
Posted by: Dead Eye - 06-04-13, 12:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

After the fun and excitement of getting the engine removed and refitted earlier this year it appears that the Oil Cooler has developed a leak Sad It's leaking between the cooler and the sump so it is likely the O-ring that is behind it. It is however a pain in the ass to get to and means a loss of all the brand new engine oil that's still in there as it drops below the min marker but doesn't trigger the warning light... yet... (it did once on my way back from Bristol which is what alerted me to the leak)

So, can anyone suggest a temporary fix until I have the money and time to deal with removing the exhaust and affording more oil?

Edit: Also, any ideas on where to find a replacement? I've looked but at £20-£30 for a little bit of rubber they can sod right off!!

  Forks - K-Tech or R1
Posted by: MightyClown - 06-04-13, 08:08 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

Hello Everyone,

I've got he chance to spend some money on the suspension, which is the one area of the bike that does annoy me.  I'm fed up with the hard front suspension "kicking" off small bumps and ripples.  It makes the bike tiring on a long journey and now it annoys me i find myself focussing on the front suspension aspect and probably being overly critical of it.

I've even thought about selling the bike but as many others find, it's difficult to find something else that offers such a versatile replacement.  However I am attracted back to V-Twins.

Anyway,  a K-Tech fork upgrade is £500 and has got very favourable comments from fellow forumites like Pitternator but many have fitted R1 forks also.    I'm not swayed by the look of the USD forks but am seeking the best improvement to the ride quality,  can i canvas opinion for those who've gone down the R1 fork route for the improvement in ride quality.  Ideally someone whose had both options fitted in the past,  i think Mike G may have been down that route.

I'm happy to spend the £500 on the fork upgrade, but wouldn't want to if the R1 forks are getting great thumbs up as i think it is a cheaper route.

what would you do ?

thanks.
