  Highest mileage bike you've had?
Posted by: Fuzzy - 12-05-13, 06:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (33)

Got chatting to a friendly Chilean courier the other day. Was riding a beautiful SP2 but has a Fzs600 for work.... with over 170,000 miles on it (original engine). Good sign for us 600 owners.

Can anybody beat that?

Posted by: Looney tune - 12-05-13, 06:06 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Decided because of the rain up here not to go to the Lanark bike show and opted to go to the Cumbrian show, ahem. SHIT, SHITE, CRAP, AWFUL, DIRE. All these words don't come close, trades description should check out the web site. From our house it takes us 1hr 15min to get there (car), we set of at 11.45 and were back home by 3.30 and that included a shopping stop at asda  :eek  Will I be back, will I focc.

what engine cleaning products do you use?
Posted by: badger - 12-05-13, 01:05 PM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Fazer needs some major fettling which will include the exhaust coming off and getting a rub down and respray. While it is off I want to clean up the front of the engine which is dirty and dull and also has some furring.  So what is the best product with the best degreasing and cleaning result you have used? Cheers badger

  Sorry brake pads!!
Posted by: Skippernick - 12-05-13, 11:36 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (27)

Ok about to pull mine out and check them, might not have been inspected for 3 years gulp.

I've checked through the other topics and am now throughly confused.
My disc's are original so what are the best pads to get?? Whats the difference between sintered/organic? Are EBC/ Gulfer/ SBS a make? Race or road?
I don't ride hard or on track but would like to know that i have good anchors.
Please help in very simple language with perhaps a link to the pads you use.
Nick

  opinions please

Finally got my arse into gear and done some work on the fazer... repaired the seat unit, fabricated undertray, reworked the petrol tank mounting, now fitting a black swingarm and shorter dogbones to jack it up a bit. Now, I have ordered some black snakeskin effect vinyl wrap for the tank, seat unit, headlight, mudguards etc, but should I paint the frame and engine bars (removed in this picture) red as I planned, or keep it all black with just a few subtle red touches (rimtape, levers, piping on the seat etc)?

12mths tax

Good bits

Bombproof engine
Gearbox perfect
Brakes still sharp
Heated grips
fuel can
Motad exhaust system
Scottoiler

Bad bits

badly pitted forks
3 out of 8 exhaust studs snapped
Numerous marks and scuffs
