Yo guys. Wrong place an that (again) so sorry but I have a major issue ahead of the springmeet amd really need some major help major quick.
Apologies
I posted this on the gixxer forum. If anyone here has any ideas, I'm open to 'em
Y2k 750y clutch issue
Hi folks, long time no see. Hope you are all well. Finally trying to get this 750 on the road and been hit with a few issues.
It has not run for about a year or so until the other day, after fitting new battery, runs fine in neutral.Oil was horrible so changed it.
I had it running and in first gear down the road and back before the old alarm issue killed it (since removed and runs fine as above) some time back so I know 1st has engaged in the pastSo, new oil and went to put into 1st and it jerked forward and stalled. I've adjusted clutch at lever, fully out and also took side off to adjust at sprocket cover. It can go so heavy that I can barely pull the lever so I reckon the cable is ok. I've loosened it back off a bit. Tried the locknut screw on the sprocket cover behind the rubber as per the haynes manual and it has made no difference. What I can gather from a google search is that the clutch plates may be stuck together and therefore will require stripping and cleaning. Sometimes this can be due to oil change and type of oil used apparently.
Before I do any more invasive stuff, has anyone encountered this previously?
Worst case scenario, I'll remove it all and do it the way the haynes says but I'm hoping one of you more learned folks may have experienced something like this before. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated

Hi Guys n Dolls, just reading a couple o threads on dogbones and wondered what effect if any they have on the handling of your bike? I'm 6'4" and my Fazer seems a little to low for me so what advantage does the mod give??/
Thanks Buck

| New chain, stiff link problem |

I've just put a new DID chain on, but the soft link is stiff. It's my second go at it, as the first one was also stiff, but I thought it was my fault, going heavy handed with the riveting tool. I know this isn't the case the second time round, as I was extra careful.
The link was stiff right from when the inner pins were pushed through, before the outer plate was put on.
I was hoping that plenty of wriggling and a decent amount of lube (scottoiler run on prime for 10 minutes) would resolve it, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
I've not ridden it yet, and am looking for ideas on what to do about it.

| Hagon Monoshock Puzzle |

So I bought this FZS600 which had a Hagon Monoshock fitted. I thought the seller just hadn't set it up, but now think it needs re-gassing as the adjuster does not adjust the damping. I'm pretty sure there is oil in it.
But here's the thing; it's not an FZS600 shock. According to the Hagon site, it's an YZF R6 unit, which I believe people do fit to the FZS1000?
The bottom clamp/yolk/bracket appears to have been welded on at some point after it left the factory; not a bad job and a million miles better than I could do, but not as neat as the factory weld on the top clamp/yolk/bracket.
1. Do FZS600 and FZS1000 shocks have the same bottom bracket?
2. How do I test it properly? With it off the bike and the spring removed there is some resistance to compression and it rebounds in about a second which seems fast. That is with it the right way up; upside-down it rebounds instantaniously.
Thoughts? Offers!!!

Hi to all,
I have just registered, I'm thinking of getting a fazer, I was a qualified motorcycle instructor years ago, anyone remember Star Rider? I'm disabled now, and when I had to stop riding they had just launched the Fazer 600, god what a beautiful bike I thought, but I was now stricken with becoming a full time car driver, my worst nightmare.
My wife sold both my ZXR 750 and my Vulcan 750, she might as well stabbed me through the heart. And so I was condemned to to the car. My son has just got himself a proper bike a Yamaha YBR 125 Custom, which I persuaded him to get after upgrading from a crappy little 50cc Chinese import scooter, which he did his CBT on, it served a purpose. So I have taught him to ride a geared bike, of course the inevitable happened and it has re-lit the fire again, I have a little way to go but I need a bike again, since I had to stop riding I have had this itch I just can't scratch.
So, the help I need is, which model of Fazer should I go for, it has to be a used model, more the pity, can't afford new. Do I go for the original FZS or the new model? I want to stay at 600 cc for the time being. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me, I need to become a biker again. My illness in more managed now but I would be happy if I can get fortnight or even a weeks worth of riding a year and to have a bike in my garage which is mine again.
Thanks
Stuart
