I sold my FZS 600. Sad times. Have a few bits to clear out:
Givi wingrack in good condition. With FZS 600 fitting kit. Lost indicators as I never used them. All nuts and bolts replaced last year with stainless ones. I modified the top box plate brackets so that they can be swapped round to make the top box sit over the pillion seat rather than over the rear, can be used either way. £70 ono
FZS 600 touring seat. More comfortable than standard one. With silver piping. Good condition. £50 ono
I am also selling two sets of full luggage:
First is Givi E36 panniers and top box in great condition. Professionally sprayed. Look very smart. £200 ono
Second set is Givi E36 panniers and Homcom top box in fair condition. All with luggage straps. £120 ono
I will arrange postage for any of the above at cost. I'll try to upload some photos.
Spotted another fazer the other day with clear indicator lenses, rather than the usual orange ones. Seen a couple of conversion kits on ebay (lenses + orange bulbs). Anyone had any experience with these? Any good? Any issues/mot problems etc?
Im trying to get tank off bike to do coolant etc, but it keeps pishing fuel out. Ive turned tap off, but when i unhook fuel line it still trickles out. It comes out faster when i open tap, but a full quarter turn to the closed position and it doesn't stop..... Help!
So I was in Halfords the other day, looking for something to seal a small hole in my rad hose, when I heard my bike alarm going off outside.Walked out to the carpark to see my bike now on it's centre stand (I left it on the side stand) and a guy stood next to it. Turns out, some matey had tried to reverse in to a spot without looking, which happened to be the same bay my bike was occupying.
Looked for damage on the side the bike fell on, but couldn't find anything obvious, and tried to start the bike up (didn't start right away, but after a couple of go's it did start up and hasn't had any trouble starting since). I had a bit of a chat with the guy and asked for his details (name, mobile number, registration), but once I tried to phone the number he gave me, he quickly told me that was his wife's phone, and gave me a new mobile number with a single different digit!
Anyway, main point of this post was to see if anyone else had had a similar experience, and any potential damage I should be looking for that might not be obvious (This was on an FZS600 btw). The thing I'm really concerned about is that I might have some internal damage, that will rear it's head in a few months time - does anyone think I might be able to get the interns of the bike checked by a garage, and have him foot the bill?
Any other stories about knocked over bikes or similar are welcome Thanks!
I haven't been on here in a while, little riding recently combined with moving house has meant I've had hardly any time for anything!
We've now moved house, and I have a garage, so the Fazer is tucked away all dry at night now as opposed to being out in the weather.
Its going in for its MOT on Saturday and I've been getting it ready for the summer after riding it all winter then putting it away since March, sadly I can't ride it this week as no MOT and a rear tyre squared off with winter riding and down to the minimum.
I've already put new front callipers on, braided hoses, sorted out the binding rear brake, un-stuck and lubed (ooherr) up a lot of parts. left to do is;
New Clutch,
New Rear Pads,
and sort out the exhaust manifold, I've taken the full exhaust off and there is quite a bit of rust that needs sorting out before I re-spray Matt Black again and put it back on.
My question is; what's the best way to get rust off? I've heard Phosphoric Acid works well and a sanding drill bit, just wondering if there are any major doo's and don't's that people have come across as I imagine that its slightly different doing an exhaust due to the high temperatures that can be reached (so Kurust etc is off limits?)

Like a good boy i rang up my insurer today to tell them my Recent mods to my bike - only to be told I was not insured and would have to take out a new policy - I hung up in a huff!
A couple of hours latter I had cooled down and rang back to sort it out - this time a different person dealt with me who told me it was ok on my policy and there was no need to change at all - so I decided to own up to a couple more mods - happy now!
My point is if you get a bad deal its worth ringing back again as you may just had a shit head dealing with you the first time !!!!!!
