Posted by: Lambonumber5 - 12-06-13, 03:19 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Having a blast into Europe in August and am looking for a smallish tank bag - phone, wallet keys, docs etc..

Have you got one?....Any recommendations, or ones to avoid?

  Yet another tyres thread
Posted by: ChristoT - 12-06-13, 12:56 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (67)

Right, sorry, here's yet another tyre thread (the forum lives off these, doesn't it)

Here's the situation: I do a lot of touring miles, but do like flinging it about too - they don't call me Merv the Swerve for nothing! I currently run Maxxis Supermaxx, and to be quite honest, I'm sick of them. The rear has only done about 6000 miles, and they're much too pedestrian for my taste. What I'm after is a set of tyres that won't cost the earth but will handle pretty well. Budget is a bit of an issue though, so will have to scour the internet.

In a nutshell, what I'm after is:

Decent durability
Sporty enough to scrape footrests without worrying I'm about to lose the back end

All I really know is I sure as hell don't want to go back to the Maxxis! Waay too boring for my taste. Oh, and for any couriers, paupers etc, I'll put up my current front tyre when I change sets. It's only about half worn (if that), no punctures, no nasty gouges, and quite well scrubbed.  Wink

WANTED: set of 4 OEM FZS600 exhaust clamps
Posted by: mobile mouse - 12-06-13, 12:55 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi,

Trying to copy off what Fazerider did to repair the exhaust clamps back in January.
I still have my OEM exhaust clamps.

http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,5759.msg50534.html#msg50534

But I need 8 OEM clamps to perform the repair to all four headers.

Does anyone have a set off 4 from a scrap OEM exhaust that are not bent that they would be willing to sell.
regards,

Passed my mod1 today :D update (and mod 2, fazer purchased :))
Posted by: mickvp - 12-06-13, 12:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (44)

On a Fazer, no less Smile

Only got 1 rider error for doing the swerve at 47kph the first time, got 51 on the second attempt though (although it didn't feel safe to me trying to do that speed in the wet?) . Well chuffed, just meed to get mod2 done now and I can get out riding on a proper bike in stead of my lady boy 125 :lol

The fella doing the test before me dropped his fazer too, right at the start while wheeling it into the parking space, didn't put it on the stand properly and over it went. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, yeah, there's my useless story for today :o

Has anyone gutted the cat on the gen2?

Of so what was the end result? Any improvements? and if so, where in the rev range?

  FZ8 - short lived model

With the new MT-09 coming out this year for £6800 I cant see many going for a FZ8 now. I hope dealers haven't stocked up with the 2013 version because they wont sell them.

  Re: Broken exhaust header clamp
Posted by: mobile mouse - 12-06-13, 09:19 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi,

Bike passed MOT on Friday.
The inspector pointed out that 3 of 4 header clamps had snapped on the exhaust, thankfully there was no exhaust gasses escaping at the time and it passed. But since I have started to hear a slight muffle sound from the exhaust so I am thinking that maybe some gasses are starting to escape whether it's after the engine is hot/cold not sure.
In January only one was showing a crack. Now 3 have broken in two, probably the steel is not up to the job, anyway

Again it looks to be a common issue with SS exhausts from Sandy Bikespares which mine are as well. the clamps are about 6mm thick and the steel must be inferior quality to the OEM units.

I still have my OEM units, somewhere in the garage but if I am to effect the repair that Fazerider did back in January:

http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,5759....l#msg50534

Then I need 8 OEM clamps.
Does anyone have a set off 4 from a scrap OEM exhaust that are not bent that they would be willing to sell.

  Default Shim Sizes (Intake)
Posted by: Thorn - 12-06-13, 01:28 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (12)

Hi there, anyone know the standard shim sizes?

I know the exhausts are 1.75mm standard, but the haynes manual makes reference to 1.50mm for the intakes yet mine all seem to be 1.85's

Regards,
Thorn
