Just returned (Wednesday) from 5 days in beautiful Scotland...I say beautiful because I remember it from last time, it was too cloudy and wet to see much this time. If it wasn't raining it was going to not to mention the gale force winds fu*k me its July. When is Jamie Oliver gonna do Scotland ...deep fried everything, and to top it off I just about managed to beat my speeding ticket home and find out then that the kilted chappies don't do the "naughty boy class" so its £60 and 3 points................Think I will try August next year :lol

As we head into the hottest weekend so far this year, I've decided to buy myself new winter boots!
Bought myself a pair of TCX Infinity gore tex boots after reading a lot of good write ups about them.
They came yesterday, bought them from Sports Bike Shop on line so I was a bit worried about sizing etc.
I bought size 44, same size as my Alpinestar Hydro Sport Dry Star's (yeah right, shower proof more like) and tried them on. Perfect!
Just what they said on the tin, good fit out of the box but will take a bit of wearing in of course.
Chuffed.

So, I've had my 2003 FZS600 for almost a year now and it's due it's annual service. It's currently on 19k. Last service was 1 year ago at 13k. Not being the most mechanically minded chap, not having a garage, tools or time, I'm planning to take it to local garage who seem pretty reasonable.
They've informed me it's due for major service, filters, oil, plugs, balance carbs etc (£230) and maybe do valve clearances (£50).
Last owner had it left standing for some time, so had given it a pretty big service last year. Can't find record or exactly what, but I'm sure he said carbs were balanced and a new battery definitely went on. The manual reckons valves don't need checking until ~30k (40000 km).
Bike does seem to be running fine. Sometimes spot slow starting from cold, needs turning over for few seconds whilst revs build up.
So, does it require a major service or will a minor service suffice? Am I right to skip valves clearances? Price for service sound about right?
