  Forking Forks !
Posted by: Looney tune - 07-08-13, 06:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

On my last couple of outing (while back now ) I heard a noise coming from the front end, like a gentle knock, every now and then on bumpy surfaces. Last night I went for a spin and the noise is there every time I run on / over a rough surface. When I hold the front brake on and push on the bars to compress the suspension it does it every time on the way down. When a friend does it and I hold the fork legs I can feel it as well as hear it. I have checked brakes, mud guard and anything else that might be loose on or to do with the forks / head stock. Bike is a 2008 FZ1n with 10600 miles.
Has anybody had this before or can point me in the right direction for a fix ?

Many thanks, Russ

hi all.....some of you will know already i`ve bought another 600 to help out with "the stuttering one"... bought off another foccer  "PHILG" at the begining of last month for the small sum of £200 and 165 mile trip to pick up...suffered the front sprocket nut problem which damaged the thread on the sprocket shaft......so finaly had some time today to have a fiddle....took the sprocket cover off removed the sprocket, bypassed the side stand switch ( no centre stand ) and started her up in gear,,then took a fine file to the shaft resting it on the clutch shaft and forming a bevel removing the damaged thread....worked a treat  Big Grin .....no h+s at the red household  !!!!!.............fitted new nut and tab washer and went for a ride....not bad but down pipes blowing and needs welding so fitted my spare set and now purrrrrrrrrs like a kitten  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin ......all the parts i need to sort "the stuttering one"......was a bit of a gamble but one i think i may have won......

After weeks of Fog and low temps we have got some sunshine at last. Took the long way home after work. 10 miles of lovely scenery and windy roads. Shetland is a different place when the sun is shining.

  Wild Camping Suggestions??
Posted by: FZSteely - 07-08-13, 01:40 PM - Forum: General - Replies (39)

Hi guys,

I'm planning a 4 day wild camping trip to Scotland, in September. Does anyone have any suggestions as to destinations? I'm hoping to get right into the wilderness, find a loch all to myself, no sign of human life, freedom really. I'm sure you get the idea. Any suggestions would be welcome Smile

Thanks.
