  Throttle sensitivity
Posted by: MC900 - 07-07-20, 08:00 AM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - No Replies

The throttle on my 08 Fazer needs to be turned a lot more than my 02 Fazer to get the same power. Makes my 02 Fazer feel faster, anyway to change this so I don't have to turn it so much? Thanks.

  Silicone radiator hosing
Posted by: Ergzzz - 06-07-20, 08:43 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hi all you sexy foccers!

I have been scouring the web for some shiny silicone radiator hoses for my 1998 FZS600. As I have found they are non existent and I am aware that there have been messages on the forum from people looking for the same thing. I spoke to Bruce, the manager of Race Bike Bitz who are a main distributor for Samco Sport, he explained to me that if there are enough people (around 20) who are requesting them then he would have them priced up then made. For the pricing up to occur he has to send the manufacturer the original hosing, I am happy to do this as I will be stripping my bike soon for a major referb. He also explained to me that he would have more luck selling internationally so if you would be so kind as to spread the word so I may one day fit my Fazer with some lovely silicone hoses  Big Grin  Bruce made me aware that because of the rarity of the Fazer hoses and the amount of hoses to be made for the Fazer cooling system they are likely to cost around £200 - £250 (this being a guess) but for me, you get what you pay for when it comes to bike products. I will be making a similar post on FB to help the cause and to spread the word. If you need more information speak to Bruce at Race Bike Bitz on 01763249807 as he was very helpful to me.

Peace out homies.

  FZ1 2Gen Service Manual
Posted by: Bikebud - 06-07-20, 03:59 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hi, can anyone recommend a good service manual for the FZ1 SA 2012? It seems Haynes dont make a manual for the FZ1, and I find the manufacturer manual to be incomprehensible.

Thanks.

foccer font of knowledge - class 7 van mot
Posted by: ogri48 - 06-07-20, 10:04 AM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

Buggered if i know...
Apparently the covid MOT 6 month extension lasts right up to the end of this month. so any light van, car or motorcycle having an expiry date from now until the last day of july gets 6 months extension.
from aug 1st, they need to get another one pronto.
My Class 7, single rear wheel 3.5t mk7 transit MOT expires on the 28th of this month.
But, is it still classed as a light van, thereby giving me the six month extension?
if I enter the reg no in the government site (RJ09 VLK), it says MOT due on the 28th of this month. But does the site automatically put six months on if its eligible?
all help apprecited fellers... Smile
ive googled it but all i can find is that it will update it if it is eligible 7 days before the expiry. Id kinda like to know asap though as i can start putting some dosh aside and doing extra jobs. old vans aint ever cheap come mot time.  :'(

  steam powered boxeye ?
Posted by: red98 - 05-07-20, 06:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (85)

my trusty 98 600 boxeye has developed a problem...it sounds as if its steam powered, its had a bit of a whining gearbox since i bought it approx 18 years ago, today i fitted new chain and sprockets and this has highlighted the sound, pulling away and changing up through the box it sounds like a steam engine until wind noise drowns it out, chain is properly adjusted, with the sprockets inline and with the correct amount of slack. (30-40mm )...looking back through the service history before i owned it, it mentions the chain was way too tight so i thinking ive got a bit of play in the output shaft bearing maybe caused by the tight chain all those years ago...new front sprocket (jt) was a very snug fit and i think i would have noticed any play but i think my first  job will be to remove the sprocket cover, remove the chain and check for any play....your thoughts please foccers

  Speedometer Repair
Posted by: deanflyer - 05-07-20, 03:27 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

This is the odometer LCD module that is damaged on my bike. I am assuming the mileage is stored within the odometer assembly.

I'm handy with a soldering iron/electronics so was thinking of buying a replacement speedometer assembly, desoldering the lcd unit and then swapping it out with my bad one. Anyone done this? Is the speedo unit easy to strip down?

If you have a unit going cheap, let me know.

Dean

Starting to miss the old thou - fiddling has commenced
Posted by: VNA - 04-07-20, 09:52 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

I guess I’m starting to miss my Fazer.  She’s sorn and was lying abandoned at the side of the garage while I tried to make up my mind what to do about her.  So, travel restriction has been lifted this weekend in Scotland, but guess what – it’s pissing down.  So, I started fiddling.

There’s no hurry here.  Just do one thing at a time, and as I please or not.  Of course, I worry I might start breaking things.  If I do, or I get bored, I can always off-load her – presumably.  Also there is still space for another a bike – I keep searching e-bay…………..hmmm.

Having bought the FZS1000 zero miles pre-reg in 2004, the one thing I regret is not popping the downpipes off a dozen years ago or so!  Looking at them now I’m thinking – just leave em.  I’m guessing some of them will just snap if I try.

So, radiator is off, for a clean up and a lick of paint.  Wondering if I should treat the bike to a new set of hoses.  I’ve seen the Samco stuff – but umm, 175 quid a set!  Is there anything else out there?

And, has anybody managed to change the wee short hose behind the downpipes – that is without first removing the downpipes?  Can it be done.  I take it all the other hoses are straightforward?
