Posted by: maddog04 - 15-08-13, 12:05 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

my lad pulled out of somewhere without his belt on and got nabbed.......fair do's
the cop issued a ticket and a driver awareness letter arrived yesterday saying he could do a 1/2 hour on line course for £36

anyone done it?
is it worth doing or would the insurance not be arsed like they are with SP 30's etc, it may save him money or it may cost him money if he don't do it?
BTW, he's sold his car and can't see him getting another one for now but he has been driving the Co. van
advice  please peeps

  Carb float height
Posted by: mars696 - 15-08-13, 09:53 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

I took out my carbs yesterday,to adjust the float heights, because of a long time idle-3k rpm stutter.
I find it realy hard to adjust them with the clear hose method...
I adjust them(at least i thought) and put carbs back in.......and guess what.....The bike runs like *@$#$@
It didnt improve the low stutter, and now the engine refuse to go over 6-7 rpm with load.....
I have done everything 9-10 months i am searching for the problem,EVERYTHING i have read here:plugs, plugs caps, carb cleaning, testing coils, tps and much more...
I am so sick of this....

  For Sale: '02 Fazer 1000
Posted by: cyclingscott - 15-08-13, 06:29 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Bike Make : Yamaha

Bike Model : FZS1000

Year : 2002

Price : £ 2400 ono

MOT/ TAX DETAILS : MOT due this week so I will get that done. Tax due October.

Mileage : 24200

Colour : Black

Extras : Heated Grips, Datatag, Double Bubble Screen (have the original as well if preferred).

Overall Bike Condition : Excellent. One small mark on the engine casing but otherwise very, very clean. The previous owner must have spent hours looking after it and it's done limited (almost entirely dry) miles since I've had it.

Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : Front tyre virtually new. Back tyre will need changing soon. Chain and Sprocket both good condition.

Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : Full Service History and MOT record. Some receipts for Service work, current front tyre and my purchase of the bike. HPI Check report from my purchase of the bike as well.

Bike Location : Cardiff

Any Other Relevant Info : Really nice bike, you won't find a cleaner example of an '02 Fazer 1000 for sale. Runs and rides really well. Redundancy is only reason for sale. It has an Akrapovic Exhaust on it at the moment-I am planning on putting it back to standard and selling the Akra exhaust seperately but am open to negotiations. Here's a photo. I can e-mail or upload more, just let me know.

anyone linked their intakes with fuel pipe? as seen on another site
Posted by: solorider - 14-08-13, 11:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I saw this mod on I think the us fz1 site where you link cylinders 1-4 and 2-3 with some fuel pipe, the original mod was using some T pieces but it was mentioned that you get the same effect by just linking as I have mentioned, I know my idle sounds different, as to smoothness I haven't noticed any difference, perhaps I may have to try the mod with the T pieces.

  riveting a cam chain
Posted by: Dcock - 14-08-13, 10:28 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

so i have my new cam chain, and i also have my rivet link. I'm going to replace my old cam chain on tuesday/wednesday. I've been looking at the rivet link and the chain and working out the best way to rivet it. I'm after a bit of advice from someone that has done it already about how best to press the side plate on and also how do i hold the internal two plates while sliding the rivet link through the holes without dropping everything  into the crank casings... stuff it with rag?

Cheers, Dan

  dusty pads
Posted by: Chris - 14-08-13, 10:10 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (12)

Hey all,

Been for a few runs the last few days and can't believe how much brake dust is coming off my pads. They are EBC organic pads all around. They're ok braking wise, although i'm looking for a bit more bite at the front. This winter I plan on rebuilding the front calipers with new seals, hel stainless braided lines and obviously new fluid. Doing this made a huge difference to the back brake when I did that.

Should I try the sbs pads everyone likes or are they just as dusty? From my research then the organic pads are apparently worse for dust anyway so maybe anything sintered or ceramic will be better.

Any thoughts?

Chris
