Been a while coming, but I'm here.

Morning all!

Gamer, nerd, student but dear lord I do love my motor.
I always planned on getting a proper motorcycle once I could but you know how parents are about 'safety' and I was dissuaded down onto a moped and from there into getting a car license that I practically never used as I saw it merely as a tool to get from A to B with as little effort as possible.
My younger sister however is a little more forceful than me and managed to get a YBR125 which I promptly fell in love with.
A year down the line I saved up, passed my A2 and the jump to my Fazer was just as satisfying as the jump to the 125 even with the restriction.
As I never got a first car this Fazer is *MY* Fazer and so I'll do all I can to love it to bits and make it truly my own.
The Haynes manual is out and ready to roll Big Grin

TL;DR: A little later getting my bike than anticipated, but now I'm here I love it all the more, expect questions. Lots of Wink

  Suzuki Alto Mechanical Question
Posted by: hightower - 14-01-14, 09:59 AM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Yeah, it's a Fazer forum I know. But it's just you folks are so good to me, I just know you'll have the answer.

Phone call off missus, on her way in to work this morning in her 54 plate Suzuki Alto 1.1, she says it was revving at about 1,500rpm. Now, when cold the car revs at about 2,000rpm and gradually lowers as it warms up - which is by design on this motor. But she was maybe about 8 miles from home at this point, so the car should be revving normally.

She says it was revving normally at idle (~900rpm) and then it started revving at 1,500rpm. After about 5 minutes she says it dropped back down.

It doesn't sound to me like the car is cold 8 miles from home, so what could be causing this? I read somewhere it could be a throttle potentiometer, although don't know (grasping at straws) so if someone can offer a hint?

Thanks,

Wel as some if you know I went with the whole powder coating the bike frame red and have the bike back together a while and had to get my new headstock bearing right b4 a decent blast,

Wel I ended up going balls out down the road, moderate-strong head wind but chin down on tank in the end I managed to push out 138mph b4 I caught up with a line of cars behind a tractor

I'm not condoning it in any way shape or form, I know it's dangerous and all that but just wondering has anyone else got a better top speed out of the boxeye? I'm sure with a different ratio on the sprockets...... But just with standard set-up?

  New Bike....

Just bought a new FZ8 ABS...and I don't think you get value for money even though it is one of the best bikes to ride. For the money one would have thought that a centre stand would be standard fit!
Are there any after market stands for them and has anyone fitted scottoiler on one of these. I also need crash bungs if anyone knows where I could get some without paying Yamaha prices.

  Snapped Centre Stand!!
Posted by: N A Chess - 13-01-14, 10:32 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

So there I was, just pushed off the centre stand, mounted, and went to ride away only to hear and awful clanking noise. WTF! :'(

My centre stand had snapped toward the right hand side and the broken piece was just dragging along the ground......... I suppose years of crud, rust and stress on it meant eventual failure - I tend to use the centre stand more than the side stand.  Anyway, a kind RAC man used a couple of cable ties and I was on my way.

Thing is, as the bike is approaching its 15th year, I was at the point of wondering whether to spend money to keep it going was a wise move.  I have just spent short of £300 on two new front discs and so I am sort of committed now.  If I knew things were going to start fall apart I may have thought differently.............

But it's the best bike I have owned in 30 years of riding, so I'll give it another chance.

Seen a couple of centre stands on eBay for around £20  :lol

  exhaust cat ?
Posted by: tex - 13-01-14, 09:51 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi all, happy new year to all.
Took my standerd exhaust off today, and it looks like there is some kind of catalytic converter in side, there are three tubes going in to the collector box, and up the link pipe, i did not know the gen 1 had these, its a 05, Does anybody know if these can be removed, im not bothered about the exhaust and link pipe, but would loke it out of the colletor box.

  Got to see my FZ1
Posted by: lew600fazer - 13-01-14, 06:12 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Went to see Neil Saturday as I was up in that way in bonnie Scotland to have a look at my FZ1, Absolutely made up with the bike and the condition, just like new. 09 plate but a spanker. Decided not to take it for a fun run due to Black ice and the freezing temps. So it will be April before I get to enjoy her at first hand.
Going to be fun as I am currently organising the spring met and ride out for the Z1000SX forum members.

Just thought i'd give it the old 'Hello'

I use a couple of forums but seeing as I ride an FZ6 S2 it seemed logical to join up here and see what the craic is.

Based in Manchester, 31 yr old nerd, been riding couple of years and acquired my fazer in Sept and it's the best bike i've owned thus far  :thumbup
