Hi Everybody
Posted by: ben - 17-12-20, 04:14 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hi everyone.

New member here from Norfolk. I've posted a little already. Thought I should probably introduce myself. Picked up this little cafe racer/flat tracker modded '99 FZS600 not so long ago. Absolutely love the engine  Smile Gonna be trying to connect the original speed sensor and tacho to the aftermarket speedometer soon. I can post a little howto if I manage to get it working and people would be intereted in that?

Front Brake MC with Flat Bars
Posted by: ben - 17-12-20, 12:08 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

I purchased a modified Fazer back in September and the previous owner put flatter bars on it. The front break master cylinder reservoir is not parallel with the brake lever. This means that now, when the bike is upright, the reservoir is sloped at an angle and not parallel with the floor.

I found out the problem with this the hard way. I went to drain the brake fluid while fitting new brake hoses. Took the cap off the reservoir and got covered in brake fluid. When replacing the fluid I had to lean the bike over to make sure I could put enough in without any spilling out.

Has anyone changed to flat bars? If so, did you do anything to make the reservoir level with the floor when the bike is upright? Maybe replace it with a different one from another bike? Or are you just careful when replacing fluid and bleeding your brakes?

For Sale - R6 Forks to fit Gen 1
Posted by: old son - 15-12-20, 06:39 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

I have a pair of forks which were off the second version of the R6 (2003-2005 5SL model) although it gained bling gold USD forks in 2005.  They were on my Gen 1 for about 9 months until I upgraded to R1 units. They certainly perform better than standard forks. One of the forks has a leaking oil seal so you'd be looking at Right-Way-Up fork seals for the 5SL model made during 2003-2004. These are about £25 per pair. There are some marks on the chrome tubes where they have been clamped in the headstock. I think they are worth £150 plus postage. Anybody interested?

Micheline Pilot Road 4's on FZ1: who has had them?
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 12-12-20, 06:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

So how many FZ1 owners on here, have or have had PR4's on their FZ1..?

I'm asking as the new bike has them and on the way home at 70-80 I was noticing a slight wibble. I have yet to check the pressures that were put in by the bike shop, but I can only imagine to high if anything.  At low speed the bike is rock solid and below 70 I don't notice the wibble at all, I don't believe and it doesn't feel like the wheel is out of balance.

As we have a few thread for common tasks that get repeated threads, I figured it would make sense to create a sticky with links to all of these threads. I will update this OP as I go, so welcome suggested threads to be added to this sticky.

  Compression adjusters
Posted by: BBROWN1664 - 09-12-20, 07:05 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

My FZS600 predates the addition of the shorter spacers and compression adjusters on the forks, but as I am in the process of rebuilding the front end I an toying with adding some bling. What are your thoughts on these?

Bench sync yamaha fazer 600 carbs(2003 Model)
Posted by: neilr - 09-12-20, 02:11 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

Hi

I have a yamaha fazer fzs 600(2003) i have removed stripped and cleaned my carbs. I have read the you can bench sync your carb to get them into the rough ball park before being more precise when fitted to the bike. The information I'm looking for relates to the base carb, I'm :'( at a loss as to which on is the base carb, any help would be fantastic.

  Brake lever guard
Posted by: agricola - 08-12-20, 08:38 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Reqd for all trackdays for next year, brake guards. No point arguing the toss/merits etc, gotta have them. Photo is the one from my FZ6 S2, and its a fair weight. I would imagine the weight acts against bar vibrations, but I can't seem to find a brake lever guard that is compatible with the screw thread, and isn't made from lightweight materials. Has anyone got guards fitted to their bikes that may do the job?
