Hello all,
I've just bought a Fazer (1999 FZS600) so I thought I'd pop in here and say hi. I'm new to Fazer ownership and forums so here goes eh?!
So me...been riding a few years now, had all kinds of bikes, from a shonky old GT750, to a VN1500 bored out to 17 with whacking great apes on it, to a Suzuki DR650 which I toured Australia on. Love bikes and biking, never happier than when on two wheels, or possibly when spannering two wheeled things. I love to ride but I also love to get stuck in fixing/bodging/buggering up(more often than I care to admit!)
And the steed...she's a 1999 FZS600 in black, a little rough around the edges but a lovely runner and (from what I've read) only just approaching middle age miles-wise. Picked her up for a song and from the twice I've ridden her I can already tell that a bond is forming. The only other 'naked/roadster' I've owned was a dull-as-feck XJ600 and the Fazer's leagues ahead of that. My other steed is a 1992 CBR600 which is currently under Frankenstein's knife, suffering the indignity of a ratfighter conversion.
Looking forward to many misspent evenings talking bullocks on here and the wealth of knowledge you guys undoubtably are.

Is there a specific reason why downpipes are circular (apart from manufacturing costs)? Would there be any effect on performance from having a, say, oval-section downpipe?

Looks like my first post here but I was a member of the board back in the sleazyboard days (if anyone remembers back that far!). Life has changed a lot for me since I bought this bike. The end result is that she's mostly been sat in the garage for the past few years. It pains me to put her up for sale but it's a waste of a bike as good as this to be sat in the garage all the time. So she's up for sale.
Brief spec:
Just 6397 genuine miles. I know .....
Silver, the fastest colour
Good pair of Bridgestone tyres
Never dropped or dinged
Ivans Slip-On kit fitted by Mike
Devilsyam oil cap (original still available)
Standard other than this
Has been regularly serviced despite being garaged (mostly at Pro-Bike in Newbury)
Currently SORN and will need to be MOT'd (I have kept the MOT up to date until now so don't anticipate any issues)
I'm looking for £3,700 £3,499 as she's so mint and such low mileage and I'll chuck in an MRA Vario screen too. I'm in Oxfordshire, and if you want to pop round for a look then please send me a message through the board. Test rides will require full asking price as a deposit - the usual stuff. I'm happy to answer any questions etc - just send me a message.
Pictures - can't quite get my head around posting them on here, so you can find them here for now: http://s1024.photobucket.com/user/psquare1971/library/

Manage to break my chain today, should have replaced months ago so no excuses on my part, Had already bought a chain & sproket kit including the 12mm up grade nut just did not get round to replacing it in time.
But any ideas as to how to remove the front sproket and nut with no chain attached, Im i going to do any damage if i put it in gear and try to remove nut.
Answers on a post card please..............

Hi all,
I've started running the cables for my CCTV by installing a 10 pair external cable (standard copper pairs) to the garage (intention is for at least 3 external cameras around the garage) and I intend to have another 4 or so exetrnal cameras around the house and couple of internal ones.
I need some advice or a point in the direction of a forum where I can get some tips on what sort of cameras and DVR to get.
Any ideas?
