Posted by: NorMorty - 04-09-24, 11:46 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi, guess mine is now nackered ( after 1/4 century & ca 300' k <: )
-usual signs last few years : gauge stayd on top F until it's just 1-2 liter left in the tank, then sudden dropps down to E  <: O
Tried to fix it but noticed that the tip of first of the 2 pickup is broken off, clean & fidle-fidle a bit.. but now the gauge just stays on E  : (

So
Any tip to fix it ?
or
where to get a new or a generic one ?
or
anyone has  one (in working order) laying around .. ?

thanks, Morty

  CAT N advice
Posted by: HarryHornby - 03-09-24, 09:34 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hi All,

A friend's 19 year old son is looking to get a bike.  He's currently looking at a few CAT N 125s and he's coming to me for advice.  Now, for me, I would never buy a cat N, be it a car or bike, maybe unless I knew the owner and the circumstances of the write off.

What are peeps thoughts on here?

  Bought 2002 FZS 1000 Fazer
Posted by: LEEBOY - 31-08-24, 04:05 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (7)

I’ve recently bought a FZS Fazer 1000 with 2658 genuine miles. It’s been in a kitchen for the last 12 years   ? and looking for advice on how much it’s worth. It’s immaculate, hasn’t obviously had an MOT for 12 years. It belonged to my friend’s dad who has recently passed away. He was bike mad and treasured all his bikes so I know it’s been well looked after.

Any suggestions as to how much it might be worth?

Thanks. ??

Clunky / notchy gear change resolved
Posted by: PottsFZ8 - 31-08-24, 11:29 AM - Forum: Fazer8 / FZ8 - No Replies

Another problem sorted.

Only had the bike for 1 month.

Really hard to select gears very clunky / notchy.

Removed gear selector arm and removed front sprocket cover. The sprocket and all around it was absolutely clogged with old chain lube and dirt.

Cleaned it all up and refitted cover and gear change arm and its a lot easier to select gears.

May not work for everyone but I'm a lot happier now Smile

Created a custom anti-slip cover for my FZ1 pillion seat
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 30-08-24, 07:42 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

So like a lot of people the pillion seat on FZ1 is getting scuffed up when I get on/off the bike and when my backpack/s slide across etc. After trying failing to find 'anyone' who who did a full cover for the pillion seat, I thought how hard can it be to try and make my own.

So with a 50x150m sheet from The Grange and 2m of elasticated cord from a locale sew-n-stitch shop I made my own, and for a first try I think I did pretty well. The spacing on the 'stitching' of the cord is about 25mm, and then once the cover was on the seat, I did a shoe-lace pattern on the circumference to minimise bunching on the concave/convex curves and corners of the seat, I used a criss-cross shoe-lace pattern etc.

Fitting the seat back n the bike is a snug fit, but I am expecting it will bed in over time. And the beauty of using anti-slip mesh, I can carry a all smaller items on the back with just bungees should the need arise knowing they wont move around on the back etc.

  Offset Front Sprocket
Posted by: Alexander_V - 23-08-24, 01:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Hello Guys,

I am struggling to find a dealer or a manufacturer of offset front sprockets. I need one (10 mm offset) for my project that I am modding my fazer 600 with a slightly wider swing arm and I just cannot seem to find anywhere I can order one these days.

I have emailed some folks in Spain and Japan... but no answers yet.

Could someone please let me know how/ where can I get one ?

Is there someone who can manufacture this and ship it to me?
If I have someone cut and weld 2 sprockets so they fit my needs what do I have to have in mind, is it strurdy enough if it is well welded?

If someone knows which other motorcycles have the same standard of sprocket attacment (the hole in the middle of the sprocket) pleas share so I can have a broader range to search with.

Thanks a lot in advance for any notes, thoughts, links and recommendations.

Best Regards
Alex
