Morning all, I have reason to remove the rad on my boxeye, has anyone done this? I have the service manual but it's of little use in this case. Do I need to drain all the coolant or can I just catch the stuff that's in the rad
Any tips/advice greatly received, thanks.?

Hi All,
I recently bought my '03 model and last night I was asked what had been done to the headlights. The enquiry is from a fellow at a local bike club I've just joined.
My bike has the foxeye style headlights, they both are on constantly and I just have a rocker switch for hi/low beams. Apparently only one light should come on with the low beam and the other on high beam. That sounds bonkers to me. Also, they're a lot brighter than standard bulbs he reckons.
I hope someone here can set me straight. It all seems normal and what I'd expect to me.
I'm not really questioning my fellow biker from the club as his wife has a Fazer so his experience is from that. If anyone knows what kind of mod has been done, I'll pass the knowledge on so he can sort his better half's bike. They're doing some kind of charity run soon; 1000+ miles in 24hrs, so I guess half decent lights might be a bonus!
Can any of you Foccers shine some light on this one? Excuse the pun... ;-)

| Rough Idle - with video |

Hey chaps,
Bought my Boxeye in January after righting off the last bike, and have had a pretty rough idle from the start. It's irritating but not terminal - the bike still revs freely and runs fine in traffic, but the idle hunts and sounds rough as.
I have replaced the plugs - no difference
checked the Coils and plug caps (chopped 10mm of the leads at the time) - All in spec
looked at the airfilter (seems cleanish - better than most),
checked the TPS - in spec
and balanced the carbs (this made the bike run a lot smoother in traffic - but hasn't solved the idle).
I have covered nearly 2000 miles since buying the bike and had hoped it would clear itself. Seeing as this isn't the case I'm thinking my next stop will be the carbs - and checking the inlet rubbers etc whilst I am at it. Come may bank holiday I have a week shutdown at work and so would like to buy anything necessary now in order to pull and properly sort it then. But I need to guarantee the bike will be on the road again the following week as it is my only transport to work.
So the big question is:
what do I need to service/sort this bike out including carb overhaul? Any products, special tools, gaskets, rebuild kits etc? is the air filter worth doing for the sake of it - or is that just wasting my money/effort?
Please take a look at the video of it idling I have uploaded to YouTube - maybe someone smarter than me will recognise the symptoms.

Hello Foccer's, got an e-mail today regarding a PCN and have no idea what I've supposed to have done. Can anyone shed any light on this for me ?
DATE OF NOTICE 16/4/14
DATE OF CONTRAVENTION 11/3/14
YOU ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR DEALING WITH THIS NOTICE DO NOT PASS THIS ON TO THE DRIVER
THE COUNCIL BELIEVES THAT YOU ARE LIABLE TO PAY A PENALTY CHARGE WITH RESPECT TO THE ABOVE VEHICLE, FOR THE FOLLOWING ALLEGED CONTRAVENTION.
38JL FAILING TO COMPLY WITH A SIGN INDICATING THAT VEHICULAR TRAFFIC MUST PASS TO THE SPECIFIED SIDE OF THE SIGN.
IN ENFIELD ROAD N1 ON 11/3/14 AT 00.09.
Now I have no idea what this means or whether the notice was issued over the set limit of time after the bullshit sounding offence.
Can anyone help ?

Does anyone know the thread size of the Blue Spot Front Caliper Bleed nipples?
after Sunday's LoFo ride I noticed that there was some seepage around one of my front caliper nipples coming from the threaded area, checked the bleed hole and it is dry.
I noticed it first last week so I pulled the nipple cleaned it, cleaned out the bleed hole in the calpier with a small bottle brush and brake cleaner, went for a quick ride and no seepage was evident. But after Sunday's 320 mile blast the seepage was back.
I did bleed the calipers last week and on Saturday, as I disturbed the brake lines when I changed the front forks, so I know the bleed holes are clear.
Want to change the nipple first to see if the seeping stops with a new nipple or if I'm into further work/expense.
