  2 brake questions
Posted by: hightower - 07-05-14, 07:07 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Getting ready for mot tomorrow and couple of stupid questions if you will all entertain me for a bit.

1) changed rear pads. Discs spot on but pads shot. Also ordered piston seals but didn't realise I didn't have much brake cleaner left, and with mot tomorrow I didn't want to do that job yet. I had enough brake cleaner left to clean up pistons before inserting new pads though. Anyhow, went for spin to test and rear brake is superb. However, the wheel isn't spinning as freely as I might expect when the rear brake isn't applied. It feels fine to ride but on stand spinning it by hand it slows quite quickly. Question: is this OK, not an mot fail, and OK to ride until I get a chance to redo seals and give complete clean?

2) completely redid front brakes about 3 months ago, seals and everything. No problems since, except for last week been getting a small amount of quiet squeel at very low speeds. Took one of the calipers off for a look and piston has small amount of rust (light) as well as edge of pad. Other than that brakes are fine. I'm gonna clean these when new brake cleaner arrives. Question: is this mot fail or is it perfectly acceptable?

Thanks

Posted by: Roly - 07-05-14, 03:00 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

I have a BAGSTER tank cover and bag in silver/grey. It looks like leather but I cant find a label to confirm. Its used but perfectly functional. Not sure how many litres the bag is, but it holds loads!

Clear pocket on top for maps, and the bag is expandable.

Located near Chester, Cheshire.

£65 for both collection preferred. Im not sure how much post would be ,will ask the wife to pack and cost in due course if required

Thanks for looking. I have a couple of other pics if required

Scottish Tours with Kevin Carmichael, a world champion stunt rider.
Posted by: bigbluebear - 07-05-14, 01:46 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - No Replies

I know there is always interest in Scottish Tours in the summer, places to go, best routes etc.

Kevin Carmichael (ex world stunt champion) offers Scottish tours, either personal or part as a group, guided (with the man himself) or unguided throughout Scotland and can even offer bike hire if required.....Christo take note.

Well worth a look at his site on the 3,5 and 10 day tours as I know from personal experience that these routes are absolute crackers.

May be a cracking ScoFo tour for us foccers only.

FZS600 Foxeye 52 plate for sale
Posted by: Andy911 - 07-05-14, 01:13 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi All,

I have a 600 foxeye for sale which I bought back in February to replace my aging '99 boxeye. Had the boxeye for about 7 years now and have been slowly bringing back to life (5 year old slowed things down). Fully intended to sell it and keep the foxeye but can't as sentiment has crept in. The old man passed away last year and it was the boxeye that got me to the hospital for visits and to his final moments, never let me down. So I am paying her back and keeping her.

The foxeye is up for £1500, not sure if good price - no doubt some one can advise. It has just over 57,000 miles but mostly covered on motorways. Really good condition, taxed to end of August and MOT to 8/3/15.
Has Data Tag and Datatool alarm fitted with Simmi Performance end can giving a very good sound. Stainless steel downpipes but does have slight crack on fairing, you have to look to notice it.
Pictures can be found here http://motors.friday-ad.co.uk/lewes/moto...-YI412BH9B

Anyway, thanks for looking and if you are interested or have any comments please let me know  Smile .

Cheers

Andy

We could perhaps set up team Foc-u's  for this 'special' event as starting points are country wide.
How about it?

Ladies Dainese Leathers Size 8 trousers, 10 jacket
Posted by: alan sherman - 07-05-14, 10:41 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

End of an era - the wife's leathers have to go.  With two kids there is no way she'll be going on the back of the bike any time soon.

As-new condition, black with a red and white stripe across.  Full details on the bay of fleas.  We are in SW London.
