Ignition Switch
Posted by: liamstears - 22-02-17, 08:36 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (2)

Have the problem with my ignition switch where I have to pull the key to a certain angle before it will turnWant to get this fixed up without buying a new lock set and I know this can be done but need a donor ignitionMy question though is what other ignitions are identical to my bike?I have the 04 FZ6 with immobiliser but looking at the switch itself it looks as though older fazers and R6's use the exact same ignition just without the immobilizer partIs this right? Don't want to buy another ignition and the parts not be compatible (basically need the lock barrel itself from a donor unit)Thanks in advance

Looking for an ignition switch for partsPreferably looking for 04-10 FZ6 switch but believe earlier FZ6 or R6 may work alsoNeed only the ignition barrel itself so would be interested in damaged switches or switches with missing keys providing that the key turns normally without any pulling/jiggling or if keys are now missing that when you did have keys it didn't take any pulling/jigglingAnyone can help?

  FZ1 Rear Disc Replacement
Posted by: FZ1obp - 22-02-17, 08:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Just had the tyres changed  and the shop reminded me that the rear disc at 45,000 miles is close to US ...(no no not Donald).

Looking on line think I'm going for a standard EBC disc at around £90 - the other makes I don't know about and have a few bad experiences on the KTMs with after market discs that wear out in a few miles.
Any thoughts?

The other issue is getting the old disc off as I understand that it's a 'mare - so plan is to warm the assembly up, at penetrating oil, leave, warm up again and then use impact driver on the heads. If they shear off then I'll have to drill out and retap.
Again any ideas would be really helpful.
Thanks guys

Brought a 2000 FZS 600 in Costa Rica. Please help me restore the bike.
Posted by: nitheesh - 22-02-17, 04:11 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi everyone,
I am new here. I live in costa rica. I brought a 2000 fzs 600 two days ago for 1300 dollars total. The bike has done around 40000miles and it is imported from Italy to Costa Rica by the first owner.

Below are some problems with the bike:

1. The bike fell inside the first owners house while he is parking and it has scratches on left side engine casing, minor dents and scratches on fuel tank and broken rear panel.
2. The front disk seems to have worn out and it makes a really annoying screeching noise when i drive anything above 20kmph.
3. The engine stutters/misfires when below 2000rpm. This is making it difficult to raid in traffic. Is this normal?

I love this bike and I want to restore it completely but the spare parts are not available in Costa Rica. Please let me know if I can buy them somewhere in UK and import them here. Also I am new to the big bikes so please provide me some tips on how should I take care of this bike properly starting from paint job to engine.

  2004 FZ6 Fazer Original Parts
Posted by: pringle_addict - 22-02-17, 03:26 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi Guys and Gals,

After departing from my beloved 2004 FZ6 Fazer, I now have some original parts to clear from the garage. All these were replaced by aftermarket parts which went with the bike.

Screen - Complete but watermarked and a little scratched. Would probably polish out.

Hugger - Standard Black ABS hugger - used and there grubby inside the chain cover.

Seat - Standard seat good condition - 1 rubber isolation mount missing, but no rips, holes etc.

Rear Light Lens in Red - Standard lens (I put a clear one on the bike). No damage.

In addition,

I have a Givi/Kappa top box mounting kit and case which is well used but still secure and looks good.

and Power Bronze Headlight covers (dark smoke) - no legal for night-time road use, but looks ok during the day (needs Velcro pads to attach).

All parts are located in Cambridgeshire (St Ives or Cambridge) and open to offers.

Many thanks

Posted by: Graham53 - 22-02-17, 03:09 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

I took my Gen 1 back to Standard bars and now have the 758's that were fitted for sale , they've got bar end weights fitted that are unmarked  ( not standard ones ) and they've not been drilled so would fit on any bike £15 plus postage...... Renthals NOW SOLD
Also brand new never used OE Gen 1 bars in silver bought them then decided it didn't go with the rest of the bike which has a black / carbon look cost new £55 now £30 plus post.
Lastly I finally got round to fitting Luke's shock so I've got a standard one for sale off a 19K 04 clean bike, I've looked on flea bay and prices vary but it's clean and worked fine so I dunno if this is cheap or not but £40 plus post ??
Or any of the above available to collect from deepest darkest Essex nr to Epping Forest ?

  Cat D project
Posted by: juperwort - 22-02-17, 11:44 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (11)

Sorry, no pics yet, but short update.

Picked up  a Cat D 1999 600 for not alot. Was stolen, and recovered from nearby ditch when thieves couldn't start it.
Pulled off fairing, lamps, clocks, headlamp frame, left front peg. All bent. Have a slightl;y better fairing, so will stay standard front end

Forks and frame are good and straight.

Seems HID's were installed at some point, so will try and keep those, but the wiring is shocking. Chocblocks everywhere.

Replaced top yoke and fuel cap as they mangled the locks and cut wires.

Gearshift/peg now replaced and straight.

Waiting for headlamp frame to be delivered, just could not get current one straight in all directions.

replaced clocks, but annoyingly, these are at 115K, and last MOT shows under 40k.

Started it last night in garage without end can on, wow, thats loud.

I think one front disc is bent, can these be straightened?

All three calipers were badly painted in rattle can, with overspray.  I assume I will rebuild with new seals, so may try and get these blasted at work. Any tips here?

Everything has to be done on a budget, but will use proper yam seals etc as been there before with that one.

james
