Posted by: ogri48 - 13-03-17, 11:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I'm thinking of changing both tyres instead of just the rear worn one and thinking wi th a two up tour coming up in early summer possibly going to bt023 s or similar, anybody got a recommendation for a decent grippy tyre that's good in the wet and will tour well too? Cheers fellers..

Just been looking at the Eurosport schedule and they list live coverage for MotoGP Qatar on 26th March. Thought this was only available through BT sport- am I missing something here??

  Valve cover removal
Posted by: three season - 13-03-17, 07:35 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi folks, gonna have a go at the valve clearances, bikes at 28odd K. I know i dont need to remove the carbs (thanks to PieEater) But just wanted to ask if i still have to remove the fairing and thermostat housing (as per Haynes manual) to get the valve cover off? AIS has been removed.
Also, my feeler gauges are not tapered, will this matter?
Thanks in advance guys.

  Hell brake lines
Posted by: Kenbob - 13-03-17, 05:19 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

just spoke to the nice people at hel performance with the view to purchasing their lines.
Will go for the race lines with a rear too but was wondering which is the best look, the coloured wrapped lines or the anodised ones.
Thought I'd gauge y'alls opinions before I bought.

Hagon progressives were they fitted correctly/ handling nightmares
Posted by: Graham53 - 13-03-17, 04:52 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (34)

i need some handling help badly  :'(
I fitted Luke's R6 shock .... all good handling improved but thought it could be better so I ended up getting a garage to fit hagon progressives, I weighed up linear but as I'm going to be doing a fair bit of touring I went for progressives as a compromise. On getting it back coming on M25 it felt twitchy at high speeds and on getting home tyre pressures were 44front 48 rear (garage said they were low and did them ) so I put back to 36/42 and it was like running on flats and weaved so I upped them a bit to 40/44 and it improved, today I went out to see if it was suspension settings causing it so put back to 36/42 ( with my own new gauge ) and slowly bit by bit went through every combination of suspension settings but the front preload will not go to its softest setting it goes to 4 and a little bit then stops.
In all settings the front is like a pogo stick and On some settings it judders over even tiny bumps so hard my hands come off the bars, it was never like this standard so have the hagons been fitted wrongly ? What else could they have done to cause this, it gives no confidence in slower corners and feels like I'm tucking the front, it also feels like it's pulling to the right ( all settings even ) and in medium speed corners it feels like the front is under steering.
I had hel lines fitted at same time and now when pulling brake lever I get clunking( checked steering head bearing play and felt ok ) which I never had before and throw in the carburation problems I may or may not be having ( went to start after going in a shop and it backfired and every time it starts now there's very strong smell of fuel and difficult to start without handful of throttle ) and I'm about ready to throw in the towel with this bike and I'm wishing I got an FZ1 instead.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know

  Block off plate
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 13-03-17, 02:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I've just removed the passenger pegs from my gen 2 and fitted a nice exhaust hanger. Now the other side looks a bit naff so I just wondering if anyone knows of a kind of block of plate to cover the holes?
Maybe something with fz1 cut into it or something?

Carb cleaning service (not an ad)
Posted by: joebloggs - 13-03-17, 11:40 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

I've just been in touch with a member of another forum who will strip and ultrasonically clean and rebuild carbs for £60 inc return postage. Thats £60 for the set, not each. Of course if any parts are required you'll have to pay for them but thats a bloody bargain, I've seen adds asking for £45 per carb.

I've not had mine done yet but will post results when I get them back
