Another Stripped Counter shaft :( |

Hi,
Bought a 2002 FZS600 last month, was praying that I wouldn't be one of the unlucky ones with a stripped countershaft, but looks like I am :'(
I removed the front sprocket cover last week and was relieved to see no welded nut, and the sprocket was still there, so I assumed it was all fine. However after replacing the sprocket for a new one and tightening it back up, it would tighten a small amount, and then loosen again, so I'm lucky it didn't come off over the last 400 miles I've done.

The threads on the shaft look shot, so I'm not sure if re-threading would work?
I'm thinking I may as well weld the nut to the shaft, would I have to weld the full circumference of the nut, or would some spot welds suffice?
I'd like to be able to grind it off and replace in the future if possible.
Also, will a garage be likely to weld this for me, or would it be classed as unsafe?

Hi All,
My FZS600, i am getting it on the road again, the FZS1000 is giving me issue and needs engine work.
I took it for an MOT and it failed, to my shock, the reason being when the indicators are on the headlight dims, so in time with the flashing of the indicators you can see it get a little less bright...
I am a little miffed, i mean, its not obvious and you really have to be looking to see it, but i am not sure what to check.
Any one dealt with issues like that?
Will be checking my FZS1000 lights to see if that does the same.

Gen 1 rear wheel bearings - thoughts please |

I asked the dealer who looks after my bike to replace the rear wheel bearings before my Euro trip last year, including the needle roller (gen. Yam. only part?), but they said that on inspection, the bearings were fine. They did the trip ok, and many miles since.
The reason I had asked them to do it, is that I have had them fail on a previous gen 1, at a similar mileage to what this bike was on then. I was a bit annoyed with them, as even if they didn't need it at the time, they didn't carry out my instruction, which I was happy to pay for.
On the recent service, one was discovered to be on the way out, so it was replaced. But should I have asked them to replace all of them? Would a failing bearing have put strain on the others in the wheel? The upcoming trip could extend to more than 3000 miles, so I'm a little concerned.

Hi, Just bought my second Fazer 1000 after selling first, getting Pan European (big mistake). Back on a 2001.
Went to start and did not hear fuel pump and when cranked it just carried on cranking even with the key turned off ......... is this the white plug under the seat on the left hand side? or could someone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks in advance.

Holed radiator - FZ1 |

So after travelling back from Inverness on the back of a truck, courtesy of the RAC, I'm now looking for a solution to a pierced radiator.
Any useful recommendations for replacements or repairs before I delve into the eBay minefield ?
Oh and in a fruitless attempt to stop coolant pissing out, I stuck a bottle of Radweld in it, I'm guessing best to flush this out before installing replacement rad
Cheers
