Rocker cam cover end caps colour
Posted by: Stevo1 - 27-09-17, 04:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hi, Anyone have the colour code to the silver rocker cam cover end caps for 2002 fzs 600 foxeye?
I have two with deep scratches that I would like to refurbish. Also need to respray cooling fins and stator covers. I've ordered enamel black gloss for the covers and hoping to buy enamel matt for the fins.
Just can't seem to find anything on the end caps.
Also what have others used to paint or spray the high black gloss frame?
I've a few rusty patches especially around the nose cone struts.
Thanks guys

  Sooo, I'm back!

Hey folks!

But of a re-introduction here. After a spell trying out the darkside on a Kwak Versys 650, I'm finally coming back to the family!

Put the dosh down on a very clean FZ1-N this week which I'll be picking up after a well deserved holiday. Excited doesn't even begin to cover it. In fact I'll probably hate every minute of this holiday knowing that the bike will be ready for collection from tomorrow! #FirstWorldProblems

Needless to say, I've been busily reading up on Ivanisation, sub throttle flies modding, PC5 etc... Though to start I'll just be enjoying that lovely smooth online four after my time on the buzzy twin.

Looking forward to chewing the fat again,  although rideouts will be tough as I'm living over in Hamburg now.

On a sidenote, how do i go about changing my username or at least my display name? The Andymancam YouTube channel is really growing so I'd like to keep 'on brand'! ;P

Anyway,  huzzah and hello!

Andy.

  airbox modification

Has anyone modified the airbox? The area of the air intake looks, at first impressions, to be rather small.......

Stiff links, new chain time. DID VX or splurge on Extreme ZVM-X?
Posted by: Arfa - 26-09-17, 02:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Been about 25-30K since last swapped chain (and yes, front sprocket nut swapped then too). Not got too much slack in it, but it's developed a couple of stiff links and has a spot of surface corrosion. I keep cleaning and lubing it, but they keep sticking and I'm feeling a duff-duff-duff-duff as I got down road. Especially when I'm on the throttle, and seemingly changing frequency with change of speed. Since having this, I've changed rear wheel (disc bolts were seized!), new rear bearing and tyre - so can rule them out. Front end feels alright, nowt obvious wrong there, so fairly sure it's the chain. It does seem to ease off when I really lube the chain up.

So reckon it's probably time for new chain.  Got a DID VX on there now, debating whether to go same again or splurge a bit more on a Extreme ZVM-X (extra £40 ish) Worth it? Anyone tried one? Last much longer? Or just not worth it on a nice smooth inline four like the Fazer?

  Parcelforce and import charges
Posted by: Red Ceri - 26-09-17, 11:21 AM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Tuesday morning gripe, has anyone else had something similar to this?

Ordered a Chinese rad for my Gen1 and was tracking the shipment from China, when it was released from customs into the hands of parcelforce on Friday

Today Got my letter from parcelforce with the charges on it, a vat charge of £9.72 (ok) and a parcel force clearance fee of £11.25  :eek .

Went to pay fee on-line but was told number on parcelforce letter was incorrect, so I called the telephone number on the letter, that is a premium 03XX number. Wading through the automatic menus took another 4 minutes, again to find out the system did not recognise the reference number given. Many requests (5+) by the system for me to input the number when finally I got back to the main menu and was able to connect to a real person, they then took the number and again it did not show on the system so went back to the tracking number, this checked out and details found. After usual security checks  now told by operator that they must put me on hold to set-up the payment (why?) after about a minute came back and ready to accept payment, this again was stalled by operator asking multiple times for card number. Finally payment was made and then asked 'do i want it sent out asap?', no shit sherlock, finally after over 11 minutes on the phone and at least another £4 poorer (have to wait for my phone bill to find out how much) my parcel is on its way here.

Feels like a money making exercise for parcelforce with the length of the call and 'Clearance Fee'

Anyone else had anything similar happen to them with the parcelforce reference number not being recognised on-line or on the phone?

Also why does it only take 3 days from order in China for parcel to be in the UK, but 8 days before I get a letter to say I need to pay charges?

Rant(s) over , have a good day people Big Grin

Wanted: FZS1000 Rear brake disc and bolts good condition
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 25-09-17, 04:39 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Afternoon

Just seeing if anyone has one on here before I hit ebay, I am after a rear brake disc for a FZS1000 in good condition (so straight and no ridging).

I am also after a set of disc bolts, having both of the above will make the job I have planned easier.

thanks

b.
