My immobiliser doesn’t get on with my dash cam.

Yesterday I finished fitting an Innovv C5 dash cam to my bike. The wiring was simple enough; a constant live direct from the +ve battery terminal, an earth to the -ve terminal, and a switched live which I took from the fuse box, also taking this opportunity to move the live for my heated grips off the battery and onto the fuse box too.
I went for a test ride this morning any it was all fine, but going to work I stopped on the way, and the bike wouldn’t start again.
Like usual, I blipped the fob to deactivate the alarm, switched the ignition on, but when I hit the starter everything went dead. I blipped the fob again, and got the tone that told me the alarm had been tripped.
Then, nothing. No alarm, no lights, nowt, like the battery was totally flat. Immediately I suspected the camera, (funnily that was working, which it shouldn’t have been with the keys in my pocket!)  so took the wires off the battery and the immobiliser started to work.
I disarmed it, and was able to fire the bike up straight away.

So, do you reckon the extra voltage load from the switched live in the fuse box made the immobiliser think something was up, and kick in?
Or is there another explanation?

I would welcome any input on my predicament. I went to go out for a spin last week I had about half a tank of fuel and I added a small amount of redex (about 40ml)  then rode to the local garage 1/2 a mile away  and topped up , it was my  first time out  this year due to being busy, anyhow my 2004 fzs1 started ok as it always has but sounded a bit lumpy  as I backed it out of my garage it stalled then took a few goes to restart I put it down to old fuel in the line and set off to top up. it started ok after I had fuelled up but continued to run a bit ropey, loosing power then picking up again,a couple of miles later the problem got worse then the bike backfired a couple of times and stopped, and stayed stopped  I got rac recovery out to take me home.  when it was trying to start kerbside it sounded like it was only running on 2 cylinders and the exhaust was blueish. I had last started the bike about 6 wks earlier and ran it for 15mins , it was fine
my mate and I stripped out the carbs and cleaned them 2 jets looked to be blocked, the fuel pump looks to be working ok, doesn't look to be the head gasket  ,took the rad cap off  and it seems ok. Not sure which way to head next  without getting a garage to pick it up and start paying :'(

Hi guys,

After doing some work on my Fazer, (changing a leaky sump and replacing the exup valve) I just can't get the bike to start, I have a spark from all the ht leads and I have cleaned the carbs, the fuel pump is good, the engine spins over ok and I get the odd cough, but it just doesn't want to go, anything I am missing ?

Thanks Mick.

Rusted now rounding bolt on powervalve
Posted by: JD-LincsUK - 14-05-18, 06:59 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi Guys

I'm a bit concerned about the bolt holding the powervalve cover in place on my bike.

Last year I had problems with the YPVS fault 'code' appearing on my tacho - so I adjusted it and lubed everything up, went pretty well. I had to renew the pulley because it was in really shit state - and I mean that - worst working part I've seen on any running bike. I wanted to take the cover off and check the actual valve flap operation and clean if ness, but this one bolt head was rusty and the bolt started rounding - it was crazily overtorqued. I left it, rather than cause damage that would affect the valve access. Was hoping a friend would sort it for me, but so far it hasn't happened.

After the error code started appearing again recently (sorted now, though, with tightening of the cables) I really want to get inside that valve housing and check it over.

Would I be okay just cutting a slot into the bolt head and using a large screwdriver to unscrew it (my usual method) or is it a really long one that would be difficult to remove this way? Really don't want to end up having to drill it.

TiA

Changed spark plugs then raidator burst
Posted by: Just a Faze im in - 14-05-18, 05:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hello all,

I changed my spark plugs for some CR8EIX iridium plugs and the bike seemed a lot quicker, great improvement.

However after 20 miles the radiator developed a hole and sprayed coolant everywhere.  I'm waiting on a replacement radiator but do you think it could be linked to the change of plugs?
