Arrived home this evening to find coolant driping from the left side of the 1000 :grumble :'( Looks like the bypass hose, remembered seeing an nick in it when changing the chain 25000km ago. May have been pinched by the sprocket cover or damaged when the chain broke before I bought it. All bikes off the road now, front end off the 600 to replace fork seal and head race bearing and swinging arm off the serow to have it painted :'( :'( All is not lost my son is not using his fazer this week or next :woot
Never used fiberglass before and I am hoping to try and repair a broken concrete wavy roof tile. I have glued one back together before with rem-chem resin used for fixing threaded studs in walls and then a bit extra buttered on the back reinforced with Aluminium mesh which worked well.I believe fiberglass will stick to concrete - dust free.
When I am putting on extra layers of sheet do I wait until the first layer is touch dry or tacky or completely cured.I have a big boy kit from toolstation which says touch dry in 50 -70 mins but it doesn't say when it will be fully cured.Also the mix is 300:1 :eek bit of a faff to measure that out. Can someone point me to a make that has an easier mix ratio with less risk of getting it wrong.Are there also faster curing ones.

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself since I'm a fresh & proud owner owner of 05 FZS 1000 Fazer. I'm from Seydisfjordur, a small town located by the east coast of Iceland.
I haven't had a bike in nearly 2 decades & this is my first 1000 cc, but the first impressions after cca 2000 miles are that this bike can be as civil or as crazy as you want it to be. Almost a bit of "Dr Jekill & Mr Hyde" in character.
Super easy to ride with very relaxed ergonomics. [size=78%][/size]I bought the bike last month in pristine condition from a bike collector, specialized in restoration of old bikes.[size=78%][/size] The bike looked like it just came from the showroom, with 25000 km driven. It came with complete Givi luggage system, Yoshimura slip-on, aftermarket indicators, Oxford heat grips, bellypan & a new Michelin Pilot Road 2 back tyre.
I've already replaced the tyre in the back & I'm picking up the front tyre of the same type tomorrow. I'm in the process of finding 19mm hex key for the front wheel axle in order to get the wheel off the bike.
Our only local shop for tyre replacement/calibration refuses to take the wheels off of bikes for some obscure reason. I think they might have had a bad experience in the past or maybe it's just an "insurance thing".
They let me use their tools to get the back wheel off & back on in their shop though. Next thing I'll do to the bike is Ivan's Carb Kit and K+N filter, but that'll come in the off-season.

I have a 2004 FZ6s and the front brakes are shot so i was wondering if the blue spot calipers off a 2004 R6 will fit the guy who im going to buy them off says they are 5SL and the calipers i have taken off mine say 5SL on them but mine are the sliding type which the R6 ones arnt...anyway just want conformation they will fit before i commit to buying them.
After an absence of a few years from the world of Fazer after selling my wee 600 I am happy to report that I am once again a Fazer owner in the shape of a 2003 Gen 1 Fazer 1000!!

Higher milage at 57k but in really good condition and has had a lot of time and effort spent on her by the previous owner including the full monty ivans kit, uprated suspension, luggage, comfort seat, elcetrical amp gauge and gear indicator thingy (dead technical me) and much more

I went to my sisters on Saturday, 30 Motorway miles with no problems. Came out about 5 hours later and the rear was totally flat, I had a repair kit and a pump with me so pumped it back up and threw on some some soapy water...no bubbles at all on the tyre, the bead or the valve. What's stranger is that the tyre then held 38 psi until the next morning when I left. No problems on the way home either....it's a bit of a mystery and has left me wondering if it's going to happen again.
Now I lost the dust cap a few weeks ago and haven't got round to getting another one, the bike had also been standing for a few weeks out on the street and I used the pump to add about 5psi before I left for my sisters. The problem HAS to be with the valve I guess, do you think it could have stayed slightly open when I first pumped the tyre then closed properly when I checked for a leak? I've never seen or heard of this problem before, anyone had the same?
Just got a 1999 600 Fazer, it's a gold one like I 1st saw 20 years ago. I'm 55 and it's my 1st bike with more than 2 pistons . I thought I better join up here to for the words of wisdom, but don't expect any in return.
