50000 miles up, here's to the next 50000!
Posted by: BMCfaz - 14-02-19, 04:40 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

The clock's just gone over 50000, most of it done by me in the 7-8 years I've had the bike. So that, as mentioned elsewhere, makes my Fazer pretty much worthless. It seems that, no matter how well it runs or how well it's maintained, most buyers are petrified of perceived high milages, even though it only works out at a bit over 3000 miles a year.

Well, more fool them! I've yet to see a bike that will do all the things I want it to with ease and in comfort, so I've no plans to change and I'm looking forward to the next 50000 on the Fazer.

  Got my Leg Over
Posted by: Old-Git - 14-02-19, 11:14 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

The bike that is. 4 months after my total left knee replacement I can get on the fazer, and reach the footrests. Very uncomfortable changing gear but that will get better, or I'll adjust the gear lever dowwards. Track day at Bedford in early May beckons.

  R1 Front End Bodywork Issues
Posted by: old son - 14-02-19, 07:14 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

I am in the process of fitting an R1 front end and the bottom yoke plate(?) which holds the lower clamps is touching the edge of the fairing. Is this usual and di you just grind away a little of the fairing? It is out of the way and can't be seen. Thanks

  Rear caliper Bolt sheared
Posted by: GhostCat - 12-02-19, 06:20 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

My rear caliper bolt sheared off while I was putting it back on, (the lower one that is like a regular bolt) I'm going to attempt to drill it out, but is it made of hi tensile steel ? If it is I may take it to the mechanic. It just seemed to snap like a twig. And has anyone got the recommended torque setting (its going into alloy AFAIK)  Sad

Bought an 02 Foxeye last April which have Pirello Diablo's on. Getting a bit low now. Too be honest my riding style is 'gentle' (some may say boring - some may say safe) but I know I'm not going to be knee scraping, so my question is what do I put on next. Michelin PR4's? Any other suggestions?
