  2004 FZ6 ignition switch
Posted by: fazermike - 08-05-19, 06:24 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi Guys,

the ignition switch on my 2004 FZ6 only switches on after several attempts and if I use the steering lock it is virtually impossible to unlock again.

So I want to replace it which means changing the fuel cap and seat lock.

I have seen some cheap ones on ebay. which are probably rubbish so i looked on WEMOTO website and they has a complete kit for £42, my only concern is if i change it was happens with the immobiliser?
isn't there a chip in the key that communicates with the bike so it can be started?

New old Fazer owner from Kent
Posted by: Garfeild - 08-05-19, 03:42 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

Hello everyone my name is Ian and I’m a second time Fazer owner from a Gravesend in Kent.
My first bike was a yellow 2002 foxeye 600, which I bought when it was a couple of years old, and had to sell it as we needed the money at the time, I was gutted.
Having owned a few different bikes since, and not feeling really attached to any of them, I managed to find another Fazer, a red 2003 foxeye 600, the first time I went out for a decent ride on bank holiday Monday, it felt like being reunited with an old friend, it was lovely, I will keep this one until I’m too old to ride.
Anyone local to me? Get in touch for a meet up.

  Valve check and coolant pipes
Posted by: dickturpin - 07-05-19, 11:19 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Guys
Has anyone got a link to a good 'how to' guide to check the valve clearances?
I have removed the ais several years ago so hoping this makes things a little easier.
Will I need a new gasket (no bike dealers within 20 miles so will have to prepare for this surgery).
Also, coolant pipes into rocker cover looks like it could do with a look at a wire brush! Does this simply remove from the rocker cover and is it better to replace this item? Again, are gaskets required?
Any comments appreciated ?

  The Good Old Days
Posted by: DILLIGAFF - 07-05-19, 11:13 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Took a drive to Box Hill yesterday. I used to enjoy blatting down there on my Fazer, before they changed the dual carriageway to single AND put in average speed cameras  !!!!
Back in the day I would see maybe 5 or 6 other Fazers there and have a chat. Nowadays its all new look bikes most of which are alien to me.  Did see an old red Fazer at Leith Hill later though. If it was you  :thumbup

  Throttle notch help
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 06-05-19, 05:21 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

I switched over my bars today to flat drag bars and now that I reassemble everything the throttle has a huge 'notch' in it? I cant see what could have changed as it's only an inch lower than it was before?
I've tried adjusting the free play using the top adjuster but that doesnt change it
It springs back perfect it's just when I'm opening the throttle it seems to catch slightly then release once I apply more pressure
It happens probably 8 out of every 10 times I try to open the throttle?
Anyone have any ideas what could be up?

  Snotty Fazer
Posted by: Hugh Jass - 06-05-19, 11:13 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I have a snotty old fazer in the back garden. It is just sitting there, stale fuel in the tank, it only gets a ride three or four times a year.
So do you guys think that I should keep it or sell it?
I'm loath to get rid of it because the milage is only about 25,000 and it runs perfectly after about ten minutes of riding. The first ten minutes are probably just getting the carbs used to some fresh fuel and she then goes like the clappers! But it is street fightered and in a snotty condition. I can tell from working on the bike that somebody has loved the bike at some point. I can also tell that they then sold it to somebody who didn't. Mechanically it is great, got renthals, single headlight and a raised rear with dog bones. Might still have the origonal dog bones but I am not sure.New carb inlet rubbers last year.

My insurance runs out in three weeks...So what would you guys do?
Put a years MOT on it and sell it on ebay?Keep it for the ocasional run?
I have just brought a Harley with the intention of choppering it and once that is done I cannot imagine I will ride the Yamaha much.
But I would be sad to see it go, to be honest.

  Rizoma Fat Bar - Black
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 05-05-19, 06:22 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Selling a set of Rizoma MA005B fat bars.
They're the ones that are 1 inch in the centre then taper out to 7/8th at the controls.
I'm pretty sure they are the lowest rise ones before drag bars
In good condition but have been drilled to accommodate Gen2 switch gear etc

If anyone is interested then I'm looking for around the £30 mark delivered to your door
