Shock linkage bolts
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 05-04-19, 06:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I'm fitting a new rear spring and jack up kit to my Gen 2, as with most thing if a jobs worth doing then it's worth doing right so I'd like to replace all the nuts and bolts while I have it apart.

Does anyone have any idea either what size or where I could buy the bolts that hold the linkages together?

I've included a picture showing the two bolts in question so you know what I'm on about
Cheers

  Clutch arm moving up?
Posted by: gixersix - 05-04-19, 06:57 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

My clutch arm seems to be working it's way out of the engine. See photos - check out the spring, which used to be quite "compressed". Any ideas? Have I got to remove clutch cover to sort this? Engine is also making occasional click whilst ticking over but I'm having a hard time tracing this and wonder if they might be related. Bike has done 30,000 miles.

Does gen 1 do a ton in second
Posted by: Stinka - 04-04-19, 06:11 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

only just started to proper rape this, being my first litre bike. I swear earlier on, I did a 4 car overtake on a twisty single lane A road off a roundabout and as I changed into third as it hit limiter, I looked at revs/speedo and I was doing 100mph  :eek Big Grin :lol

Is this right ? Will these bad boys do a ton in second on stock gearing ?

  Painting fork legs
Posted by: Stinka - 04-04-19, 03:33 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

what’s the best way to turn my fork bottoms black on my fzs1000 ?

Nothing fancy, just in the process of getting rid of all the silver and chrome etc.

I’m thinking take legs off, rub down and clean up with a solvent. Then rattle can. But what can ? Is it worth using primer first ? Could I just use something like hammerite ?

  Bike won't start!!
Posted by: Skippernick - 03-04-19, 08:38 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Went to start Monday morning and wouldn't start, had to bump start it. Assumed it was the battery but it failed to start for my return home as well.

Checked and the battery is getting charged so assumed the battery had died finally, I had resurrected about 4 months ago.
Put new battery in this evening and still won't start.
All warning light works, and when I thumb the starter I get a loud fast buzzing noise form the battery area.
Am I right in assuming that the starter solenoid has gone?

Thanks all
Nick

  Longer Bar risers
Posted by: fireblake - 03-04-19, 07:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

My bike has the R1 forks and top yoke and also Renthal bars but over the last year or so an old shoulder injury has made riding a lot harder. I'm thinking that some higher risers would help sort my problems. Does anyone know of a longer version than the standard risers and maybe put up a link please?

  YSS PD valves
Posted by: vinnyb - 02-04-19, 10:06 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (24)

I'm hoping to finally get started on my forks before long. I've got .85kg KTech Linear springs, YSS PD Valves and a pair of damper Rods for drilling and I'm thinking of starting with 10w oil as I want a plush comfortable sports touring type setup rather than track day handling. FireFox Racing have told me that the damper rods don't need drilling but everything I've read on here and everywhere else online says they do, so having got a donor pair I might as well do it. Can anyone tell me whether I need to use the washer from the bottom of the original spring or whether the new spring should sit directly on top of the PD valve, this seems wrong to me but would the washer restrict the oil flow if it's fitted? Any other hints and tips would be gratefully accepted, thanks.

  Stud extractor recommendations.
Posted by: robbo - 02-04-19, 08:37 PM - Forum: General - Replies (22)

In the next week or so I'll need to replace the exhaust studs on my Triumph. The nuts will be a nightmare to get off, having been in place for over 20 years. The stud threads are corroded so figured on changing them all, whilst the exhaust is being repaired. A Beta 8mm roller stud extractor has caught my eye. Does anyone have any experience of this type of tool or any success stories with any alternative. Thanks in advance.
