  Rear suspension linkage grease seals
Posted by: roxburd - 20-06-19, 09:27 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Haynes says the grease seals on the rear suspension linkage should always be replaced - anyone know where I can get a set??

Cheers,
Dave

  Reverse shift pattern
Posted by: gixer73 - 20-06-19, 11:38 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Hi to all,

I want to find out if anyone knows how to convert the fzs 2003 to a reverse shift pattern?
The linkage runs a convoluted pattern through the frame?

I ride a track bike and sports bike with this pattern which I find more natural hence reason.

Does anyone know of a solution. Would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone else think we were robbed of what could have been one of the finest GP's when Lorenzo skittled the front runners? or would the relentless Marquez still have done the business? :z

  Nothing... dead as a dodo
Posted by: Tefer - 19-06-19, 04:34 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

Hi Guys,

I am at a bit of a loss.

I was away Friday to Saturday last week on a Stena Bikes Onboard event. The Friday night and Saturday morning were wet, really wet. I got up Saturday morning and tried to start the FZS1000, it was not keen but a little choke and we were away. I boarded the ferry and we arrived in NI, I stopped after disembark to fix gloves and get Sat Nav set up turned on my lights and the dash went off. It restarted and the check lights came on thought it was weird and trued to repeat and it did it again. The bike was still running. We set off and all looked fine, i had to hit the pass light (High Beam flash) and the dash went blank again with check lights, this was only 10 mins after leaving the ferry. We had been riding around 30 mins and i tried the pass light again, nothing happened, so all was good for the rest of the day.

After a really wet trip the bike was put away in the garage and never thought about again until Monday for a wash. I started washing the bike (no pressure washer, just garden hose), gave it a good clean and all was good. I started the bike and it was running for a minute and i thought i would check the pass light to see all was ok. Well this time dash went off and bike cut out, there is now no lights on the dash.

When you turn the ignition there is nothing no lights, no priming of the fuel pump absolutely Zero.

I have checked and Battery is charged and holding 12.76 volts. The main fuse is OK (tested with multimeter), the fuses in the box for lights and that look ok (not tested individually only visual inspection). The earthing has been checked and looks ok.

Can anyone hold my hand through some other checks to determine where the problem lies? I am thinking ignition problem but have no idea how to check this. I have sprayed every connector block with WD40 to try and drive out moisture but still nothing.

My electrical knowledge is not great but i have a meter and if told were to check i will.

Cheers

  Replacing footpegs
Posted by: MikeBike - 19-06-19, 03:30 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hello guys.I have a FZS600 1998-1999 and need to replce the rider´s right footpeg.I ve seen some tutorials on youtube, and most footrests have either a coter pin or a U shaped o-ring to be removed  to remove the bolt. However my bike has none of those. There are some videos where bolt is cut with a saw. Is that the way to do it?
Also, are there any videos or tutorials on how to replace the brakes pads on this model?ThanksMiguel

Hi, am after a Haynes manual for my 2003 FZS600. If you have one up for grabs that would be appreciated. Apologies if I don`t respond straight away but I`m taking the trusty steed for a tour around Scotland (from Bristol) tomorrow but will be back next week. Thanks, Guy.

  Raised Handlebars advice
Posted by: Qutuz - 19-06-19, 01:01 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (12)

Hi all, i am new to the forum, i have just passed my mod2 and after a lot of reading decided to purchase a 1999 Fazer 600 as my first big bike. i done most of my training on a XJ600 Diversion.

The Fazer i have purchased is in brilliant condition and running order however the previous owner replaced the handlebars with Renthal 758 Ultra lows.

I much prefer a more upright riding position and would like to ask what the best remedy for this would be ? i have seen some Rental 756 highs which i can get hold of or i was thinking of adding some raisers to my current setup, or maybe something else? any advice welcome, thanks.
