Less Pies for the Fazer Thou ?!
Posted by: MikeyFZS1 - 23-11-11, 06:18 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

Smile Eyup, thought I’d pick the collective FOC-U brain about tips for Fazer thou weight saving !

I’ve been thinking of how I might shed a few pounds from mi ’05 Fazer, I’d have thought the bulk of the weight is in the engine and frame, and that there’s not a vast amount that could be done there to reduce weight - or is there ?

Looking round the bike, there are a few obvious things (remove rear footrests (if you don’t do pillion !), remove the metal frame covers around the swing-arm pivot area, etc) but I can’t think of much else that will really save much weight, maybe three or four kilos ?

A lightweight battery (at a price !) should save a further three kilos, and the only other major thing I’ve thought of is lightweight wheels, although again very pricey for something that will save significant weight !

Any other thoughts about how weight can be saved ?

I suppose this post is a bit of winter fun really, and I fully expect the usual “cut down on the pies – the bike is the least of your worries” type replies, but thought it would be good to share any Fazer weight saving tips !

Cheers,

Fletch

Saw a picture of a W800 and have been day dreaming ever since. Are they good to ride or just gutless pretty-boys?

  FZS600 takes forever to start
Posted by: Zinger - 23-11-11, 03:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

To start my FZS600 1999 I basically sit there for probably 30 seconds pressing the ignition, until it finally kicks in. I've replaced the battery and the starter motor but its still the same, any thoughts? thanks

Is there any way to neaten up this damaged mudguard?
Posted by: Digdug - 23-11-11, 01:22 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

I've posted this pic in General but thought i'd put it here too in case you've missed it (original post was asking how much a new mudguard would cost rather than how to make the damaged one look a bit better).

So here it is, the result of some ijit who can't park and obviously has no conscience either as they didn't leave their details. If anyone has any ideas how to make it look a bit better til a cheap replacement turns up on ebay please let me know.

Gen 1 nose, tail and tank for sale
Posted by: Spud - 22-11-11, 02:25 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

As above.

The tail section is in black and is in fair condition, no cracks or scrapes, it is 7 years old so not mint.

The nose cone is also in black, this was brand new about 18 months ago however the bike slipped off it's side stand :'( so there are some light scratches on the lefthand side above the indicator. There is also a crack about 75 mm long just under the indicator.

The tank is in metallic red it has small dent in the righthand side about the size of a tea spoon ( not including the handle Wink ), it also has quite a few stone chips on the lefthand side.

I am open to offers if anyone is interested, if not they will go on evil-bay. I can not download photos at the moment as my Phone/camera will not play, but if you send me a PM with your mobile number I will happily sent you some photos.

While I'm one i also have two double bubble screens as well one black and one with a light tint.
